We all know that children with autism have difficulty coomunicating so they often use hitting as a method of getting your attention to get what he/she wants or protecting his/her territory. What you need to do is to know what triggers the attacks.

Thank you for these useful tips but it would have been better if you used the term "child with autism" or "child on the autism spectrum" to describe the condition of the child.

I think, meltdown was a completely normal term for a child who lost his/her temper and emotional self-control.

yes, its just that they feel others' emotions too intensely to cope. Understanding what another person is thinking and feeling is difficult for someone with Asperger’s. But this is different from not having the capacity to care and be concerned about people’s feelings.
