I agree with the above, it gets really difficult when the flight or fight response kicks in. The only problem is my brain wants to do both at the same time its like I need to get out of here right now before I punch someone.

Eidetic memory is honestly something I wish I had, I have read online that in some respect this case be learnt (obviously it wouldn’t be to the level of a natural Eidetic memory). Does anyone know if this is true?

I think you’re missing the point though. This is a spectrum, everyone is going to be at different points on the spectrum and everyone is completely different. It’s a myth that everyone on the spectrum is a genius, IQ can be below average, average or above average. There are Savants on the spectrum b...

Exhausted. Got myself into a high state of anxiety earlier today triggering sensory overload and a partial meltdown. Trying to recover, spent most of the day at home in isolation.

Show them this video, worked with my parents. It’s mostly about experiences of a party but it can be relatable to other situations. It does a really good job of showing what it’s like in our heads sometimes. Hope it helps. :) https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/oct/07/the-party-a-virtual-exp...

Fun T-Shirt but realistically, loud music can bring upon sensory issues. Also, a study conducted by Chung et al (2005) found that 61% attending concerts and 43% clubs experienced tinnitus or hearing problems. This was based off a sample size of 9693. There is also a literature review conducted by Pe...

I think everyone is different on the spectrum, also I believe its very difficult to lie at the assessment because these are specialists trained to recognise ASD. I don't always experience sensory overload when in public, I think it's a NT belief that we are supposed to always experience it though. I...

I have known that I was slightly different most of my life, only started reading about Autism at the start of 2015 really and felt that it sounded exactly like me. I would say I wa...
