Does anyone reading this happen to have dyscalculia and synesthesia? If so, what is like? Do you think that synesthesia helps your dyscalculia? I am curious as to how the two conditions work with each other, so if you have any input, that would be immensely helpful. Thanks in advance. |

No, I definitely do not think you need to be worried. I do the same thing -- pretend I am a certain character or that I am somewhere else with different (and often imaginary) people. I, too, quite enjoy doing this and get upset if it is interrupted. As long as you are aware of reality and escaping i... |

I TOTALLY relate to everything you said, as much of the same things happen to me quite frequently as well. About the head hitting, I would (if available) recommend you punch something soft and squishy, like a pillow. That way it won't inflict as much pain on you. If that's not an option, squeezing a... |

I recently learned that my special education teacher is leaving next school year. I have absolutely 0 friends and an exceptionally hard time connecting with/relating to others due to my autism; this teacher is one of the very few people I have been able to connect with in the past few years, and I f... |

I was literally sitting at a computer one night and for some reason decided to look up the symptoms of Asperger's and was like "hey, that sounds like me" (not in those exact words, though). |

- Talking ALL THE TIME, typically about things that really don't matter (i.e. what they are currently wearing). - Constant eye contact during conversations. - Following along with what everyone else is doing without questioning it (like with trends). - Not saying what they mean/meaning what they say... |

Kati Morton (on YouTube) has some wonderful videos on various issues regarding mental health. That's all I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure there are plenty of others. |

I struggle with quite similar issues as well. Try looking for some social skills classes near you; this can help a lot with learning body language and such.Therapy can help with social anxiety and trust issues, but if you don't want to or can't do therapy, there are plenty of videos out there from p... |

I sometimes feel like I am a burden to my family because my autism makes me unable to tolerate certain textures of foods, which in turn makes eating out and grocery shopping difficult for my family as well as some other things. Anyone else ever feel like this? If so, how did you handle it? |

Sounds like Asperger Syndrome to me. I have AS, and a lot of your symptoms sound very similar to mine. However, it is important to note that every person on the autism spectrum is different, so it is best to get a professional diagnosis. Good luck! |
