I was reading this book called Boundary Issues , which goes over the (not uncommon) idea that what we are looking for in a romantic partner is whatever we needed most growing up that our parents didn't provide us. I've found this to be disquietingly, creepily accurate. The hopeful side of this is th...

So are we not allowed to respond to the topic because we're "hypocrites" or politically incorrect? I believe many of us are only responding to this issue regarding Afghanistan and Islam, which is what this topic was originally about. I see nothing wrong with that and we can also add how barbaric ot...

She defended the morality of "us." Since this is an American based, English Language site, it seems fair to assume the historical references I made to the immorality of the UK and the US would be applicable.

Yeah well what if she said Christian fundies...would your attitude be different then? Yes--because to complain about Islam on an anglocentric site has a stronger edge of xenophobia than to complain about Christianity. I would still have defended it though; other things being equal, hypocrisy should...

and these people (muslim fundies) have the nerve to call *us* immoral... I find this offensive for its obtuseness. Marital rape was completely legal in some places in the US and throughout the UK less than 20 years ago , and is still far less punishable than non-marital rape in most places. . . . s...

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I discovered a really awesome book about this called "Intuitive eating." I give it my highest reccomendation if you have eating problems to figure out.

I also wonder why standards must be the same across WP. If homogeneous regulation doesn't serve the community, why have homogeneous regulation? It strikes me that permitting a flame section--which no one would have to go to, ever, if they didn't want to--and then being strict about personal attacks ...

Anyway, all of that said, these figures don't say much at all. Only a few of them seem to and they lack a level of necessary analysis, and two figures seem to contradict each other. So, really, the figures aren't interesting so much as they are just trying to attack Bush. That said, I would bet tha...

Yeah. . . I wasn't quite sure, but if you're the girl in the link video on the pictures thread, you're also gorgeous. And, also I should say, that beyond being "not stupid," your posts often strike me as being sort of dryly satirical and funny, and really very smart. I enjoy them a lot. whoever it i...

Considering the abject subjugation of Congress to Bush how would you do that without a popular revolution and what would you put in its place? No, and post labor syndicalism. Ah, like the Industrial Workers of the World/Pierre-Joseph Proudhon? heh. . . yeah, sort of like that. .. . I'm not deeply f...

Usually when I'm feeling dispassionate about everything, there's a reservoir of pain, sort of just waiting under the surface to well up. . . Motzart's Requiem helps. So does a lot of dancing. Also taking good care of my body, and being brutally honest about any external things I might have to feel s...

Well if you expect me to feel sorry for pretty gals simply because they happen to look good, Too Bad-cos I really DONT. Whenever I hear such women complaining about what a b***h is to have sex appeal I snicker because if there were in the opposite situation, that is, if they were ugly they'd be MUC...

I actually feel the whole system needs to be scrapped, which makes them less interesting than they otherwise would be. . .
