I feel ya, OP. Just moved "back home" to a rural craphole--population 1,000ish. It's the most backward place imaginable. I've got nothing in common with the people here, most of whom are meth addicts or Jesus freaks (or both). No friends, no place to hang out or enjoy a movie. Not even a f...

Nothing wrong with being proud of where you're from as long as you don't have a closed mind about other cultures or think yours is superior. A lot of Americans act as if we're the only country in the world, or that the world revolves around us. I think that's where some of the backlash comes from. A...

Depends. There certainly CAN be a physiological cause of mood swings, such as in bipolar disorder or certain personality disorders (Borderline PD, etc). Changes in blood sugar levels can also cause mood swings in some people, particularly diabetics or those with hypoglycemia. And some medications ca...

Yes, though I've always found them troublesome when the interest is with a person in my everyday life. Obviously you can't get obsessed with a person and stalk them or be creepy, lol. But sometimes it can be hard to hide your feelings/fascination in their presence. I was once obsessed with Andy Kauf...

Yes, unfortunately. I haven't had a full-time job since 2007. I've taken some minor freelance work-from-home gigs since then, but nothing that even qualifies as part-time (30 hours per week). And that ended in 2009ish. Gonna try and hop on the SSI/disability bandwagon soon. Not happy or proud of it,...

Thanks so much for your kind reply! Means a lot. I do feel comforted :) I spent today packing up my belongings. Guess I really am moving back to that hellish town to live with my parents until I get my own place. My gf wants to remain friends and keep the cats, so at least there's a chance I can *ma...

Abridged version: I'm a 32 y/o female who has been living under the guise of independence for the last decade or so, only to have it crumble in an instant. My girlfriend of 12 years just dumped me on Valentine's Day and informed me that I have to move out of our shared apartment by the end of the mo...
