It has layers of meaning and depth! On the one hand, it's almost lifeless. Just natures untidy sprawl, a mess of rubble, a sprinkle of sand, ripples in the water, captured oblivious in it's timeless patience. Indifferent to Ice Ages or flash floods. But still, alive with patterns, direction. Tiny l... |

Well, I suppose that scenario did play out in an episode of STTNG I believe it was Janeway on Voyager. :D Whenever you talk about Star Trek, I think of the classic hair song by Poison, " Talk Dirty To Me ", and I feel inclined to spoof-cover it into "Talk Trekkie To Me", just for you. But there is ... |

When I first learned of this thread, I hated it; it made me angry, like Russell Crowe gets when a paparazzi shoves a camera in his face while he's trying to have a quiet holiday; so many different genres of thought and feeling colliding in ways that no onlooker would understand; volatile compounds b... |

I once had a dream where I died, and then attended my own funeral as a ghost; nobody could see me, but I could of course see and hear everyone. It was an interesting viewpoint, impossibly hearing what people say about you after you are dead. Well, I suppose that scenario did play out in an episode o... |

Just because one thinks they have something that's defined by the professional majority due to taking an online test, reading a personal and subjective account, doesn't mean they have it. I understand this, Daniel; and perhaps there are mental hypochondriacs among us. My point is that the flipside ... |

Asperger's and autism are a chemical imbalance. And aspirin is an excellent antibiotic. Yes, Icarus actually heard a real-life doctor once utter this. I was fourteen; and I've never trusted a doctor since. In my limited experiences with them since then (mostly for the sake of my son), I've kept my e... |

ut I DIDN' say 16! I said SIX 3.14159! Same here; good ole three point one four one five nine has gotten me along just fine in life; if I need additional precision, additional digits are readily available for lookup; but I don't expect I'll really ever need that additional precision. I must say, I'... |

Ask for a Focus SVT; and then complain when they tell you there hasn't been a Focus SVT since 2004. :x http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j305/damneatoa/6608-2003-Ford-Focus.jpg In lieu of that, an Escape Hybrid ? Or how about a little Ranger ? (Seriously though, please post info/pics when you get yo... |

Health is health; I do not draw distinction between physical and mental health; we are complex, holistic systems, and to focus on any part of us to the exclusion of other parts will lead to no useful end. A healthy mind encourages a healthy body; a healthy body supports a healthy mind. Just words, I... |

My 10 year old son has an official diagnosis of autism; he was early-intervention diagnosed at ~3. He's somewhere in LFA/MFA land; I would not call him non-verbal since he babbles most constantly, but his auditory centers are scrambled enough so that verbal communication with him is not very functio... |

Salted sunflower seeds. 8O Each one is like a tiny Lemarchand's box; each contains a dry and dead universe; each one is a puzzle to be solved by my teeth and tongue. 8O 8O And the marketing employed on the back of the bag is just precious: Congratulations! You're a seeder! Seeders are unique. They'r... |

I was quite a Heinlein fan in the days of my youth; I recall enjoying Stranger in a Strange land when I was a know-it-all teenager, but that was so very long ago, and a world of difference between thinking I knew everything and realizing how little I really know... The book has been on my re-read li... |

I like the fact that my close friends, mostly straight males, often feel comfortable enough to confide in me about things they would otherwise never consider giving voice to. Although they (often computer science types) joke that they relate to me because I think just like a guy, I'm still associat... |

I'm male, and really can't imagine being female. ...Although I can't imagine growing up being a girly who was too plain to attract attention. Oh, I completely concur with this; I can try to imagine, but I will not presume that I can do so with any degree of accuracy. I have a female co-worker/frien... |
