I think they dumbed them down to try to make them multilingual, but made it so nobody can understand them.

The 2038 issue is a bit different. On UNIX machines, dates are often stored internally as the number of seconds since January 1, 1970 as a signed 32 bit integer. In 2038, that integer will roll over from 2,147,483,647 to -2,147,483,649 seconds. I know that the air dates of a pre-1970 show that does...

I don't think Ethernet is going to go away, as it's more stable, you need to connect the access points for WiFi to the network and the internet some how, and everybody gets dedicated bandwidth, unlike the air and the old coax Ethernet networks.

another big reason is PoE. Actually PoE over fiber is possible. All you have to do is shine a high-powered laser into the fiber at one end and at the receiving end, you just shine the laser light on to a photovoltaic cell to convert it back into electricity, although I question the efficiency of do...

In other words, if dinosaurs weren't wiped out tuns of centuries ago, what would the world be like today? Would there be less people in the world right now? How would people live differently over the years in order to adapt? Would towns and cities be the same? If not what would they look like? What...

<sigh> PR#6 was the command to turn the Apple from 40 columns to 80 columns, mainly because the video card was in slot number six. I also remember punched cards and paper tape. I think the PR# Commands selected the slot that the card that was in, as most cards would would work in slot 0-7 on the II...

I used the Another Night by Real McCoy Cassette single that I have to compare my Sony MDR-V150 headphones, with my New Koss PortaPro headphones, using the Built-in headphone jack on my Sony Cassette deck. I used a cassette as it was analog and repeatable, as you ha...

I've been noticing this too, and my fear is that eventually, Aspergers will be associated with violence and crime. It could start getting difficult for us to get a car or house loan or even allowed to move into an apartment complex just as much as it is for people who have an established criminal r...

what are german cops like? Nothing like the Petit Army over there. Not all forces have guns (the SEK do) and over half of the shots fired by Police are for warnings- German Police fire less shots in a year than USA fires in one month. If we need to contain a crowd, we use numbers, not fire-power. O...

Is this some new trend? I'm hearing more and more stories of cops going too extreme recently. What is going on? Well, that's it. Never trust an officer. Next thing you know, they'll start beating down on people who stare cross-eyed. I wouldn't be suppressed that they are people that the mental hosp...

I hate cops too. I think we should kill them all, or at least the bad ones, and start all over, as I don't think you can fix them.
