Hey everyone. So, a significant part of my daughter's diagnosis is aphantasia, the impairment of the ability to form visual images. According to the diagnosing psychiatrist, this impairs her ability to make decisions and to feel motivation for the future. Honestly, this explains a lot about her beh...

There are some black people here. Most don’t inform us of this....because they post more as autistic people than as black people. Yeah, the one I was talking about mentioned it when she related a problem with her relationship with her mother, because it revolved around that. I had watched her posts...

In light of british actress stephanie davies coming out as hfa at a late age. Just wondered is there a link between severity and age of diagnosis? I mean if you can go up to your 40's without anyone mentioning autism then surely the symptoms must be mild in comparison to a 2-3 year old that is susp...

WOW, I didn't get any responses. Well, I wondered if my father had aphantasia. I decided to ask him some questions without giving anything away. He doesn't have aphantasia. I wish I thought to ask my mother about this before she died. I wonder if she did. My father did so well in so many respects, t...

YEP, a LOT of people are like that. DON'T tell them you are a virgin though. They will NOT see it as a good thing. OH, and Northern california, ESPECIALLY around places like San francisco, has people that will REALLY treat you badly.

On the voice problem, I can't help you, unless you are not white. I am white, so I could NEVER attempt the OBVIOUS, REASONABLE, and FACTUAL approach and say I can't learrn from the teacher because they either make me want to plug my ears, make me strain to figure out what they are trying to say, or ...

This stuff should all be pretty well known, etc.... but with metaphors and workarounds, various people, like me, made assumptions, and others did, and so all thought others were able to do the same things. So I came up with a number of questions. I will also include MY answers. If you could answer t...

I'd like to use this as an opportunity to encourage anybody that might be working on something that seems impossible for you. You can do it and when you do it will feel awesome! And if you have a similar story about anything I would love to hear it! Well, I have an EARILY similar thing. As I mentio...

Dysgraphia, looked it up and that's me. Had much criticism from elementary school teachers about my pencil grip. Handwriting was unusual looking and had problems with the hand tiring too quickly. Computers saved me from this problem however. That was my childhood in a nutshell. I was so bad at hold...

This past week, with my diagnosis just a few days ago, I’ve been connecting all the dots in my life. You know, the things that make me ME, and how ASD is a big part of it. So.... These are the things I have beyond my social interaction issues, poor eye contact and repetitive behaviors. - Facial bli...

I've a situation in my life which so highlights how intensely I loathe injustice, no matter the size... I had two bills recently, one was about 50x bigger than the other... but, besides the initial shock of the amount I reasoned that I could have used as much over time, i.e. mostly justified... the...

Nationality, ethnicity, geography, religion, politics, sports teams, etc.: we all divide ourselves up into a variety of tribal designations on a regular basis. I can certainly identify with others who share a common view on a specific topic. What I don't understand is the absolutism that goes along...

I was going to express the same idea as Jimmy did, HOWEVER, I am under the impression it is NOT just autistics, and it is NOT just junior high, though that is a time that it can peak at. Now, I was kind of odd, but I don't think it was generally that noticeable, and It wasn't anything anyone should ...

Yes. I can act fairly normal (I performed professionally in my youth). People are often surprised when I deflate. So I ask myself, "why not just keep acting :normal" and then I would BE that". Couldn't I find a way to hold that up? Some secret trick. Then that would be me. Except it'...
