She gets people to listen. Policy is a dialog. And does she have to be compared? Are you saying that if she can't be the best advocate, at least the advocate you believe she should be, then she should not act? There are all kinds of voices and actions that are needed. Let turn the question around: ... |

Actually, she does practice what she believes. She does not fly and has stopped her parents from flying. She does not buy new products, when she does shop. She is quite serious in her own personal life to minimize her climate impact. And she is right, those in power are the ones that need to solve ... |

I'm not a fan of Thunberg, personally. As far as her being disabled goes, I think the way she presents her disabilities is strange - saying things like attending activism rallies cured her sensory problems or saying that she can defy her selective mutism when it's "necessary." It just seem... |

It might be that your repetitive behaviors, limited interests, and sensory issues weren't considered clinically significant. That's the case for many people who have milder forms of neurodivergence. For example, NVLD and ADHD are heavily associated with those three symptoms, but they don't cause fun... |

As others have said, it depends on the book. If we're talking about average science and history books, I can comfortably read 50 pages in an hour. I can read ~20 pages of a science textbook in an hour, including time to highlight and annotate. With fiction, it's more like 80 pages in an hour, but it... |

Aspies have unconventional beliefs more often due to being noncomformist by nature. Unconventional views tend to be self-reinforcing for psychological reasons. So the autistic brain might be more stubbornly convinced that it sees the truth, but as for that odd myth of the insightful Aspie...I've nev... |

I’m unable to take public transit alone. I get meltdowns and panic attacks and I don’t know what to do. I get lost easily and walk into traffic. I’m an elopement risk. My problem solving is poor so I can’t figure out what to do if I run into trouble. I didn't know that other high-functioning autist... |

The last time we didn't deal with a member's obsession with a minor, it escalated into a dangerous situation. I hope it doesn't happen with you, and maybe it won't, but I will have warned you to guard yourself against the consequences of your dependence, which is all that I intended. No predator con... |

I think you are being harsh. And also You should not go on a thread called "I need to discuss my feelings in a safe space." and Proceed to critize the OP You don't know them personally calling them an emotional predator is not only uncalled for but also abusive. Believe me I used to be th... |

Hi, I'm sorry if I sound defensive or if you thought I was trashing Star Trekker. I was actually referring to AceofPens post, who did indeed insinuate that I am acting like a pedaphile. He said my relationship with this kid is and was always totally inappropriate. He also suggested that I am person... |

I'm sorry AceofPen but I don't agree and I don't really appreciate my feelings being spun into me being a pedaphile. The fact that I took care of someone who needed me everyday and gave my whole heart to a child who felt so very unloved many times doesn't make me a pedaphile. It also doesn't make m... |

I'm going to be more direct about this. You need to distance yourself from the kid NOW and seek therapy for this behavior. Imagine if a man was doing this to a little girl. You would be worried about the behaviors escalating, and that's a very real danger for you, too. No one starts out intending to... |

The questions don't make much sense when applied to my situation. I try to use many masking techniques described by Aspies, but masking only works if you have certain social skills already at your disposal - mimicry, for example, and the ability to apply specific behaviors across different contexts.... |

I dunno. Once it gets to the clinical level, it can be pretty disruptive. And it doesn't help with socializing. I didn't understand how annoying other people's special interests could be until I met a narcissist who would only talk about his hobbies. Now I get why my family limited me to one fact ab... |

Davis as a person, and as a politician, had very little in common with Trump. Davis, ironically was a pro Unionist among southerners (pro slavery, but pro union)who ended up kind of falling into the job presiding over the Confederacy after it broke away from the Union. Fun fact: Lincoln and Davis w... |

I'm agnostic (a relatively recent "deconvert"), and I still love theology. I don't study specific religions as much, but the fundamental philosophical questions and exploring how religion fits into a secular understanding of the world is still very interesting to me. I also love agnostic e... |
