learn meditation. what happens in the outer world is not significant because you can't really change it, you can react to it. control what you can: your reactions. Learn deep breathing and relaxation, it is awesome. And I avoid crowds as much as possible and don't feel guilty but if you feel bad lik...

I remember being frustrated my family tried to shelter me for so long, but looking back and seeing what I see now, I understand...seems like the more your eyes are opened to life, the more you are opened to the hurts and pains, but I guess it could also be said you can be just as open to the beauty,...

I will share some of the things I really like to do. I like to pick up abandoned furniture off the side of the road (usually shelving, bedside tables) and paint them. Sometimes I get 3-d stickers and glitter from the art store and add that too. It's an easy spin on being a fine art painter, and you ...

I'll share a little of my tolerance level for reference point, and by the way, being around certain animal smells (even though I love animals) can be such a strong stimulant to me that it can make my body feel quite ill for hours if I am breathing it all in for a long time. The killing of the pig so...

I really like meditation for quieting my inner emotional state. I've been practicing many years and do it several times daily, even if only for 5-7 minutes, it really helps. I decided not to have kids to keep my life overwhelm to a minimum, I live solo, no boyfriend or husband, very very quiet home ...

I don't even stress about it anymore, though I have an eye injury so that's my excuse. I don't even like looking into the eyes of adult human photos. But what I find REALLY interesting is how incredibly warm I find the eyes of horses!! And kids feel light and happy. Eyes tell so much about people, I...

Yes, I agree with the original post. I like when it is simply considered a 'different brain that processes things differently' and not as a disorder. Honestly a lot of the traits I've seen listed when I've researched women with Aspergers are super similar to Highly Sensitive People. Or at least thos...

Not sure if you are a sit-in-the-house type or get out and move around a lot type, but if you are the former, sounds like you'd make an excellent novelist or playwright. Maybe channel some of that Dark Lord creativity ideas into stories, you could really let loose there without hurting people.

I sense a lot of humor, self-awareness and truth behind your post. One thing I think people fail to mention when they bring up any mental illness or neurodiversity is that 'not being normal' does not automatically correlate to one feeling violent; Feeling violent does not mean you necessarily lose a...

Oh but I will say, if I have to socialize, which I try to do as little as possible, I have found it helpful to google 'how to make small talk' beforehand. I succeeded with flying colors my last time doing this!

I think you may be right, and I think everyone has different tolerance levels for socializing. Here are things I enjoy: journal writing and occasionally poetry, reading often, spending time with animals, the peaceful awesomeness of being in nature, listening to music, being artistic, spending time w...

Well walking is good for physical mental health and there is always trash to pick up so when I wasn't working that was my thing, I'd clean up the woods and streets near me. You'd be amazed how many small bags I'd fill. It seems easier to spread kindness without a full time job, which is valuable for...

No offense but I enjoy small kids more than adults, but I hate flying and drive instead. For me just being around that many people for so many hours infuriates me. All the eyes watching me, the noise, the smells, horrible. Exhausting. Maybe try first class, doubtful there would be babies there.

I was thinking this in the car after I posted the previous reply: one of the absolute best things is being in control of the temperature! So awesome to be toasty warm in the coldest of winter and crank the A/C in summer, or have the windows open to freshen the air, without anyone yelling at me for it.
