That's an interesting thought about social anxiety. From a 'judgmental' standpoint, I'm much more comfortable around lots of people compared to a small group. In a large group or a large party, I can just blend in, but with a small group I feel much more pressured to be 'on'. For me at least, it wou...

I just wanted to throw this out to see if anyone else has the same experience with crowds as I do. In general, I hate crowds. I love to hike and visit national parks, but I almost exclusively visit during off times and seasons just to avoid crowds, for instance. However, I've noticed that in certain...

I think in my case there's a certain level of hiding that leads most people (and myself) to think that I'm unemotional. I often read that Aspies have inappropriate emotions/reactions at certain times, which could maybe lead to hiding those emotions from others to avoid social embarrassment. For exam...

I also score average to above average on the multiple choice online eyes tests. But real life is multiple choice, and it's hard to read another eyes expression when you can only look at someone's eyes for about 1/10th of a second before you have an incredible urge to look away. Looking away (or wors...

In the past, I would not have picked up on the joke at all. But, after years of working in an office environment, I've realized that people make comments like that all the time in a joking manner. I still get fooled occasionally, but it's now more likely that I assume someone is joking when in fact ...

I also struggle with this distinction and wish there was a more black and white definition/distinction of what makes a special interest. For instance, as I continue to do research about ASD and try to determine if I am on the spectrum, I have read countless articles about ASD and done hundreds of ho...

I deal with this quite frequently. Most of my interests are positive, but some start positive and end up negative. Over the last couple of years, I've had to resort to forcing myself to take breaks from one interest and pursue another for a day or two to avoid pushing a positive interest into a nega...

I should preface my response by stating that I don't have an official diagnosis, but I suspect there's a much better than average chance that I'm somewhere on the spectrum. In my case, I've held down a steady engineering job for almost 15 years, graduated from a leading university with highest honor...

I've got a very supportive wife and family. Without them it's unlikely I would be able to hold down a job of this magnitude at all (design engineering). It's been a constant struggle with stress all through my education and my career to this point. Only within the last 6 months has it become apparen...

You should, certainly, go back to you old job, then. Especially if you already know the job. If you know the job, less stress, less transition, less hassle. I understand your thought completely, and that's why I re-applied at my old company. But when the process of changing jobs became more 'real',...

Laughter and amusement for me are also reflexive, but almost all other facial expressions are not. I'm afraid that I don't even have the mental process/recognition required to make the over exaggerated emoji faces you talked about. I pretty much keep the same expression all the time, and get frequen...

New job is certainly worse. My main reason for leaving the original job was they were pushing me further and further down a management path that I was extremely uncomfortable doing. The job I applied for was returning to an individual contributor role.

Has anyone else experienced severe anxiety from a potential job change? I'm currently in a job that I'm completely unhappy with, and applied for a position at my old company about a month ago. I was contacted yesterday about coming in for an interview, and they asked if I was available to come in so...

In the past, I had frequent issues with sleeping. Some nights I would lay awake all night long and never fall asleep, and my issues with sleep usually lasted for months at a time. I also had severe issues with jet lag and time changes, even to the point that going only one time zone away would lead ...

I've sent an email through the aspietests site this morning to see what rationale they used for the scoring. Perhaps they will be able to explain how they set it up and why, or if the scoring is in fact wrong maybe they can fix it. Did you ever hear back from the aspietests site? For fun, I tried t...
