What you may find is a way to model and understand something that looks like a disorder but is actually an alternative mode of operation. I wonder what would qualify? :D Recent developments in quantum computer research are making it possible to construct a true quantum computer. A quantum neural ne...

I have a problem in so far as - If someone tells me they think your name is Bill, then I am properly introduced to you, and your name is Frank. I will forever be confused as to your name, and not call you by your name incase I get it wrong. It never full asserts itself as to which one of the two you...

I think everybody stims, whether AS or not, in difficult situations. For example in job interviews I used to move my chair so only the top half of my body could be seen, then fidget with leg movements like crazy. Or wrap my legs around the chair legs to stop it from happening if I could be seen. I r...

I'm amazed you all had so many diverse "special interests". I just loved lego, nothing else. Morning noon and night. Would love to call it a special interest lol, it was an obsession. Moved onto computers when I was about 11 and stayed there. Over the years I have enjoyed other things, biology, psyc...

I thought AS was just HFA, but being lead to believe there might be a difference between them. Is there/what are the differences?

There's a thread on here about whether guitar playing is stimming. I play cards on the computer for hours on end and don't get bored, it sort of calms me. If this is stimming, then I do things like this all the time and have done in various guises throughout my life. I've also had quite a few meltdo...

I'm not musical. I had tests for my dyslexia and found I'm smartest at block design. When I get stressed I do really basic things on my computer like play Freecell for ages (It's a kind of really simple block design task), I think it really focuses my attention away from my stress. So am I stimming?...

I used to have this repetitive dream where one guy is lying on the ground motionless and another is standing over him asking him questions, I won't go into it but it was the same everytime and really freaked me out. Anyway I knew I was one of the two people, just knew it, but strangely I didn't know...

Have you seen Schendiler's List? In it, there is loads of death, all the time. You become used to it somehow, you don't become surprised or saddened by it. But the whole film is in black and white and in one of the scenes there is a little girl playing in the street wearing a red dress (it's in blac...

The best job I ever had was as a barman. Socialising with people all the time, I loved it. But whenever I wasn't at work I was exhausted, sleeping all the time.
