Have you spoken to your husband? Asked him to stand up for you? If he's anything like my husband, he walks around daydreaming and has no idea what's going on around him. +1 I'd be tempted to go with the nuclear option - let it be known somehow that if no one's going to stand up for you, you're goin... |

hard to say because of his age. some of the things you point out could be just being a 2 year old.....my NT son was always quite a bit stubborn and bossy. if you're really concerned, then an eval would be the best thing to do +1 Knowing with such a small child is incredibly difficult if not impossi... |

Mushariff has been acting oddly lately, I wouldn't doubt if he has something to do with it. I doubt it. A suicide bomber seems an unlikely MO for Musharaff, it seems far more likely to to have been a tribal or Taliban bomber. Bhutto had been advocating against them. Also, Musharaff's made some bad ... |

The first thread interprets the sentence, and fails, and starts my mouth saying "excuse me?" or "what?", etc... Meanwhile, the second one is STILL processing and often within the first sylable of the statement, I realize what was said, try to stop the statement, and say OH, OK, etc.... Yes, I do th... |

When I don't know what to say, I tend to be very formal. My accent is not typical of those around me and never has.. it's always been "posh". I have an extended vocabulary.. but when I use it, it sounds like I've only just read the words because I can overemphasise parts of words in the wrong place... |

Difficult to say. For the most part, I feel like I'm prety au fait with my own emotions, and probably always have been. I know what I'm feeling, why I'm feeling it, etc. But I suspect I tend toward extremes. At the same time, while I've been working on my OCD, part of that experience has been being ... |

Interesting, but I'd like to know some variables - for instance, if you keep up communication with others while playing (say, at a LAN party) does this mitigate the effect? How much is a significant amount? As they also said, there's no indicator of long term effects (how can no evidence of long ter... |

I don't think a "universal" answer is appropriate for this, really. It all depends on context for me. I'm incredibly articulate, and fast, when typing in a chat or online (doesn't come through so much here because most of my time on WP is while I'm at work, and the ****ing keyboard I have is busted,... |

autism_diva, could you edit your comment so there isn't one enormous URL there? It's messing up the sizing of the page and making others' comments very hard to read, thanks. Interesting. It's funny, because a couple of weeks ago, I don't think I'd even have realised I have a problem. And I still mos... |

So I was chatting to my (NT) wife a couple of days ago, and mentioned that while if I'm concentrating on someone or expecting them to speak, I have no difficulty making out their words and understanding, however if someone says something at an unexpected time, there's a lot of background noise, or I... |

OK, I got the joke answer out the way. I think you're confused about what is or is not apathy. What you're describing sounds more like the typical aspergian lack of person to person empathy, our inability to instinctively know how a person feels and relate to it. That's... not completely universal, ... |

Well, getting back to the topic at hand, rather than the enormous digression (and, Fantastic, I'll caution you that, as you've probably already realised, there seems to be a tendancy for Aspergians to project somewhat their own experiences and assume they're universal - be cautious with that, it's a... |

I think it's worth bearing in mind that many who think they're coping OK, really aren't doing as well as they believe. For instance, my wife tells me that I'm more aspergian than I often realise I am. The social faux-pas that I make aren't obvious to me, and so without her there telling me I've scre... |

I think it's harder if your family or in-laws are f***wits. It sounds like you may have that on both sides - my condolences, it must suck. I think to a degree, most people (this goes for NTs more than aspies, more because of a greater capacity to do so than for any other reason) need to be able to s... |

Exactly, how is it that you know you're "blind" if you're not affected by the disorder? If you're not affected by blindness (what blindness entails, i.e., not seeing), you can see right? However, if you have been blind from birth and have never been told there is such a thing as sight, you'd not kn... |
