This is so true. But, to get back to the ethics question, I think that anyone who votes in a primary in order to sabotage the opposition is an immoral and unethical sleezebag, no matter if they support the people I do or not. It isn't right. :x Sure, tactical voting is at best a dirty trick. But wh...

This is a topic that's been on my mind lately, especially now that I live in a state with "closed primaries," meaning I must publicly file my party affiliation some time before voting in either Democratic or Republican primaries. Obviously the Democratic presidential primaries are not inte...

Core CPI does not include food or energy to be more specific which is used as a barometer of inflation since food and energy are deemed too volatile. And? Headline CPI does include both of these, and every measure of CPI used to inform major government policy decisions includes food and energy cost...

Official numbers that measure inflation are manipulated and can't really be trusted. Evidence, please? Ugh, off the top of my head CPI doesn't count food or energy prices. That alone should discredit it really. You are incorrect. Those are among the main things CPI counts. Get your facts straight b...

1. Where did you get your religious beliefs? Tradition, my family, the culture around me, and my own reading. 2. Do you think that your religion is better than all the other religions that existed and exist? No, but it is satisfactory for me. I have no desire to impose my beliefs on others, or to h...

<--Here's an American who doesn't eat that "Wonder Bread" stuff. I'm certainly not the only one here whose food looks more like the bread in that second picture.

The situation is somewhat better in the math world. A decent bit of mathematics knowledge is already freely available online. In the life and social sciences, there's little to nothing you can get for free.

I recently started a vegetarian diet--was going to be temporary, but now seriously considering going veg or semi-veg (fish, and maybe a steak once or twice a year) permanently--so I've been keenly aware of bread and produce prices. If I were to go back to eating meat, sure, I could probably eat 3 s...

How much does real bread cost? A lot of bread is cheap because it has filler in it. I bought a loaf of the fancy premium bread (with no artificial ingredients, HFCS, etc) earlier this week for roughly the same price I spent on bread a year or two ago. Another poster on here and I had a large disagr...

These labels are all artificial. Yes we are a kind of ape. We are also a kind of fish, and a kind of bacteria. Literally our grandparents were fish if you go back far enough. It all depends on how you want to define and categorize life on Earth. Not correct. Humans must be classified as apes to avo...

The editions of the books sold overseas (usually with cheaper binding) are not intended for sale in the US, and typically contain a notice to the effect that selling them here is illegal. My topology book has such a notice on the front cover. The reason is that the books have to be sold cheaper ove...

Um... Libya? Or the illegal bombing campaigns in Yemen and elsewhere? Or the illegal strikes inside Pakistan that have alienated our nominal ally and destabilized a nuclear-armed state?
