Every book or show/film I get obsessed with, I intensely feel connected with. My two mains are Game of Thrones and Interstellar. It’s hard to answer this question, as I could not cope in their world or circumstances. But I intensely love the characters, the world, the experience. And watching it nev...

Interstellar. I’m actually listening to my favourite scenes on headphones as I write this, as I like to do. It’s now added to my special interests, on tier two (T1 is main, all encompassing special interests, T2s are shorter term varied special interests and T3s are life long, broader and/or ones th...

It's definitely been worse for me, I don't know if that's a feature of the condition or just a result of living under such stress my whole life. And the stress always changes, y'know? I'm a mother of a 3.5 year old girl who I'm almost certain is Aspie too. And she's the very defiant, very loud, very...

I love cats - always have, however, I just got a pair and I'm really struggling. They've weed a bit in the house and I've been having severe contamination issues since (I already had contamination issues but I thought I'd be fine with them). I can barely touch them, eat, lie down or walk without che...

I'm sick of trying to look for support as a Mum with Aspergers with a 3.5 year old possibly on the spectrum, but only finding support for parents of Aspie children. I have Aspergers and my 3.5 year old daughter possibly does too (I'm pretty sure but the nursery autism specialist doesn't - sigh). I'm...

Finally, after incorrectly being referred back to the ADHD clinic (I have ADHD too), I have been notified today that my referral has been screened and clinically accepted! I was told my funding request has been sent to my local CCG, but when I called about half an hour ago, they said they haven't re...

I did write a massive reply but I seem to have lost it somehow! Anyway, basically: Personality Disorders are how I got to where I am now. I won’t go into detail but let’s just say I’ve always struggled socially and I’ve just about managed to pass off as normal to get by. About a year and a half ago...

Thanks for the reply Sandpiper. Did the NHS send you for a private diagnosis? To my knowledge the NHS is still on DSM IV but private places in the UK are on DSM V. What makes me think this is that Aspergers has gone from DSM V as it’s lumped into The ASD category, but a lot of places will still say...

Thanks for you reply, it’s a big help. As I’ve been doing nothing but research and making notes for the last 9 months, I’ve gotten a bit bored of it in the last month or so thinking ‘there’s no point making anymore notes’ but now I realise I don’t have enough on stuff such as bullying and why it ha...

Yes, I struggle massively with change and always have.

It also really throws me off. We recently had some major work done to our house and I am still recovering. It's been about two months and I'm still a mess.

Not irrelevant at all. It involves having to deal with change and sensory issues. I've never liked getting in the shower and I like getting into a tub even less. Once I'm in there, then it's okay. It's the getting in and getting out process I hate. That is EXACTLY it! As a child, would have to be n...

I've always been curious what separates a "special interest" from a "regular interest", when does an interest cross that line? Personally, people have called me "obsessed" when it comes to certain things, but....when does an interest qualify as special, or an obsession...

I struggle with being concise!). ---- Hi all, I'm new here, so hi! I was diagnosed with ADHD at the Maudsley in Jan 2017. ASD traits were picked up ...
