| I'd have been mortified if somebody sent me an e-mail like that. Well, it's my best friend at work. She's as odd as I am, in a subtly different way (bipolar) and so she's the only person I trust. It wasn't the nicest email I ever got, but I'd rather know what was up so I could attempt to adapt cert... |

| My workmate gave me the following helpful email today: Just a little “Heads Up” on your potential for aspy-like behavior – It’s probably not a good look to start reading the paper on the table in the middle of the assembled staff while the top boss is giving a speech. :-) *facepalm* You see, I would... |

Religious people sometimes say "I fear no-one but god". The two statements make an interesting counterbalance. |

Do something outrageous like joining a radical political group, so your family start begging and pleading you to sit in front of your computer again. |

In honour of one of the most famous "borderline AS" people, we could call it "Numan's Syndrome". |

| I skipped a grade in primary (elementary in American terms) school and another two in high school. I was in university at 15. It was either that or expell me for continually hitting and abusing people. As far as my behavioural problems went, they kept sending me to shrinks, none of whom had a clue w... |

| Wow. This all sounds extremely familiar. I was extremely smart at school (maths as well as verbal), but I was also disruptive and angry. I would always be getting into fights at home and school. At 13 the school sent a letter home with me saying they were -> <- close to kicking me out. Instead, they... |

| I live in my own world, and I don't care about others. I'm selfish. Here's one of the refrains: "We're not playdoh!" They use my being different in the way that I'm not as social, as an excuse to say I don't care about others, basically that I don't have empathy. This is to them, makes me "cold", "... |

| I'm 33 and just found out about Asperger's. It really was a double-edged sword. On one hand, I was so relieved to finally know why I always felt different and to know that there was a reason, other than "I'm just weird", for how I was. On the other hand, the label "autism" really did a number on ho... |

| Oh, that Robert Fripp. Who listens to King Crimson for the lyrics? ;) Richard Palmer-James' lyrics on Larks' Tongues in Aspic are, to my mind, possibly the best rock lyrics ever. But certainly that's not usual. Generally, Sinfield's lyrics make me cringe and Belew's make me roll my eyes. Aradford: ... |

| Oh... wow. Yes, this is the right thread for me. I triple-endorse the nomination of Calling All Stations - some of the stuff on there would have been a classic for the ages if the idiot Collins had sung it. So too with Relayer (Patrick Moraz was critically underused in the Moody Blues), but I would ... |

In two sentences:
People with the normal type of brain use speech and writing to score social points and to "fit in", as well as using it to communicate information and ideas.
This annoys me. |

"Awfulisation" is indeed a great word - as is "musturbation".

No, I think your train of thought is running along similar tracks to my own. ;-) I particularly liked this observation of yours: There seems to be this mentality in... |

| As I've said elsewhere, my experience of people with AS leads me to think that I haven't got that precise condition myself - although I certainly have many things in common with people "on the spectrum", and I am trying to put a name to exactly in what way my brain is different and interesting. One ... |
