I can relate a lot. I've done a lot of theater work around neurodiversity. It is in fact exceptionally hard to get paying gigs as a neurodivergent/otherwise disabled artist.

I'm astounded that anyone can maintain an interest in fictional worlds when the real one is melting, burning, flooding and sickening around them. Caring about the real world and enjoying fiction are not mutually exclusive. Some amount of escapism is necessary to maintain the emotional composure to ...

He is my favorite director, and has been since I was an early adolescent. I also really admire the work he is accomplishing with meditation, and I heard he reaches out to autistic people with his foundation too. Lost Highway is my favorite of his films, and I also love Inland Empire and Eraserhead .

Oh, it certainly happens. It's a common tragedy, and definitely one I've played my part in too many times. I would recommend the movie My Own Private Idaho for an all-too-real look at this phenomenon expressed thru fiction.

Some articles claim that a paradigm of autism is the extreme male mind A lot more males than females have autism diagnosis That's because of stereotyping. Most autistic women mask more than autistic men because they are socialized differently. In fact there is a statistic correlation between the tr...

It is definitely an anxious and frantic album. Tyler is known to vent a lot of dark thoughts in his music. I wouldn't take the lyrics on New Magic Wand too literally, but it probably does represent an emotional reality for him. I was in love with a straight boy around the time the record was out, go...

Absolutely, which makes the gentrification/yuppie construction boom in my city (Seattle) an aesthetic nightmare! Pioneer Square is the best place to take in that atmosphere here.

Oh I love Krautrock! Can, Faust, Neu, Kraftwerk... I also love some similar music from other nations, like Yellow Magic Orchestra, Stereolab, Tortoise, Slapp Happy, Jean Michel Jarre, and The Residents! I also think that in this generation, some songs by Animal Collective and John Maus capture that ...

I just got diagnosed bipolar a couple months ago. I've known I was autistic since age 9. Looking back I've always had periods of my life where I was hyperactive and extremely creative, and other times when I felt anhedonia, loss of motivation and always alongside OCD symptoms. I also realize now tha...

I love anime but don't watch as many series as some autistic people do. My favorite anime shows are Neon Genesis Evangelion and Yu Yu Hakusho. I also love Hayao Miyazaki and Satoshi Kon movies.

I still say look at Hermeticism or at least familiarize yourself with what it is and how it works to understand that it's part of the arc of beliefs between the two idea pools you mentioned. This is good advice. Western ceremonial magic (Hermeticism, Kabbalah, Gnosticism, Thelema etc) is kind of li...

Hey everybody, my name is Jackie and I just returned to the wrong planet after taking a long break from this site due to stress from political debates. I'm 24 years old, diagnosed Aspie at age 9 and also have synesthesia (yay!), OCD (at times), and bipolar (as I found out last winter). My special in...
