I'm far too familiar with silly feeling that gets dredged up after those around me fail to recognize why I shared some thought. Its even worse when they're dismissive about it. There's nothing wrong with relating and connecting to something; I tend to forget that others don't see the same patterns a...

For much of my life, I have believed many similar variations of what you described. FWIW, more recently I've begun to wonder if such beliefs were actually a front for the anxiety, confusion and bewilderment I felt over aspects of my life I couldn't figure out. A manifestation derived from grasping o...

Its certainly not illegal to go bra-less, its not even illegal to go topless in parts of the US at least (http://gotopless.org/topless-laws). YMMV in other countries! There's nothing disgusting about the human body. I wish society would stop body shaming and pushing their preconceptions about the se...

The HVAC system, cars on the street, the quiet chorus of fingers tapping keyboards, my feet tapping on the ground.

To frame what I'll say below, I'm a trans woman and was AMAB (assigned male at birth). Recently I self-diagnosed myself with autism after doing a lot research. Research that was instigated after a few events that don't pertain to this topic, so I'll move on. I began transitioning over a decade ago a...

Since there is a lack of academic literature and medical research into both of these; its hard to form an informed opinion about them. As a trans woman, I will admit that I fear being compared to or associated with either phenomenon; being transgender already carries with it a negative stigma of bei...

I know several people who are non-binary or gender-fluid and don't base their identity off stereotypes, misogynistic beliefs, gender roles or any offensive belief. As a trans woman myself, my gender identity also has nothing to do with stereotypes or gender roles. It is, rather, based on an intrinsi...

Oh I definitely do that. I won't notice that I'm doing it and my wife will tease me that I'm shaking the entire table or floor. I'll tap just my big toe if I have to be discreet. Other times I plant my toes on the ground and my whole leg bounces. If there's music playing I'll tap out the beat with t...

My wife is the only person I can be completely myself around. To the point where I can have my "alone" time even if she's there. That said, I certainly relish the times where I'm able to be at home completely alone. I can spend an entire afternoon with my closest of friends, but I'll be co...

Her attitude is, if I'm functioning and fulfilling my obligations, what purpose would it serve for me to obtain a diagnosis? This reminds me of when my friend (who has a diagnosis) questioned why I needed to find out. Why might I need a diagnosis? I'm in my 30's, capable of gainful employment, and ...

It's likely that, as part of the diagnostic process, the psychologist will want to talk to your parents because part of the diagnostic criteria is that the signs and symptoms must have been present when you were a child. (...) It sounds like your sister would probably be more receptive to the idea ...

In my case, my family suspected I had it before I did. We’re pretty knowledgeable about it since my nephew and then son were both diagnosed with ASD. My wife was the first one to notice similarities between me and a past boyfriend of hers who had a diagnosis of Asperger's. I wouldn't be surprised i...

Background: I don't have an official diagnosis. Its quite likely that I won't be in a position to seek one out till next year (2019). My immediate family has a very negative view of medical professionals and it definitely extends to mental health. My father, for example, pretty much lives life by th...

I don't hate myself for being autistic. I have, however, shown vehement hatred towards myself for plenty of other reasons. I've exploded with hatred and anger towards myself for simply missing the bus in the morning and throwing off my schedule. I've hated myself in the past for being transgender an...

I concur with the suggestions for STEM careers. I work as a software engineer. From a socializing perspective, I find it very easy. There are days where I can go into work and not have to do much talking to anyone the entire day. There are even opportunities to put on my headphones and block out all...

In general, I go without makeup. Though I do go through fits and spurts of being determined to finally figure out the makeup thing. Even then I typically don't bother on a daily basis, just special occasions or if I end up having enough energy to make an attempt at socializing
