I've missed the programme on Iplayer, unfortunately, but luckily there's a clip still on, and it definitely gives a view of ABA that I agree with. The focus is on positive reinforcement. And yes, that does, in theory, discourage "autistic" behaviours such as stimming, but it's not like you're gettin... |

I received ABA, and it is definitely the main reason that I am as neurologically typical as I am today. At the age of 2, I had a diagnosis of Low Functioning Autism. The Doctor said that I would never (yes, never ) learn how to speak, read, write, or do anything for myself, effectively. Yet, after 7... |

Seeing as I took part in ABA during most of my early years, and was effectively "cured," as a result, I would say it is the best therapy for autism there is. The thing here is... Anyone can turn the name of ANY disorder into an insult. And because Autism and Asperger's Syndrome, for example, are becoming more well-known, more people are aware of them and of how autistic and Aspie people may behave. So they can then target them.
