Same stressful situation for me... I think in hindsight that overthinking, anxiety, being overwhelmed by an unknown situation is also a pointer in the aspie positive diagnosis direction. I was pretty clear and forthcoming about these feelings and the way I was "not coping" really good with...

I do it, and find it quite enjoyable. It's more common when I feel i'm overstimulated by my environment... like a safe heaven.

I live in Canada, and we are about to legalize cannabis and it's oil by-products. Being a non smoker, but seeing some medicinal avenues, I'm ambivalent to it's usage. I've read that cannabis has 2 different active ingredients: THC and CBD. The THC seems more related to analgesic and psychotrope, as ...

High-Fives.... can't stand them, can't figure out their reason, and find NTs looking ridiculous doing them. Why do they need to clap their hands in the air when they finish, or accomplish something? It seems like it makes them even more happy! When someone tries to high-five me, I just don't acknowl...

And at what spectrum severity would you set the limit? Mild? Severe? High Functioning? Seriously... A lot of great people with great potential, even if plagued with severe counterpoints, would have never been given a chance! Think of all the great minds that were/are autistic, or were/are suspected ...

I asked myself, you mean that person is with you virtually 24 hours a day and 7 days a week? And that alone totally perplexes me. Cripes I'm getting anxiety right now just thinking about it. Trust me, I'm not 24h a day and 7 days a week in presence of my wife... I think even a neurotypical would go...

Communication and understanding of the "other". I know that my wife needs to socialize and have a lot of friends. She knows that I cant handle it. She goes out with her friends, and I stay home and everybody is happy. When we have people over at our house, she understand that I have to &qu...

Meltdown... last one was 5 years ago! As for shutdowns, 2-3 per year. When a lurking shutdowns starts to show it's signs, I isolate myself, let it run it's course, and recuperate. My wife knows the drill, and the rest on my family just thinks I'm weird but tolerate my quirkiness.

To reminiscence of a time and place that I hated? I have better things to do! Hanging around people that want to relive their little social heaven by bragging on their achievements, flashing their superficial success and trophy spouses? Seriously? I'd rather read a book, or tinker around with tech. ...

For me, it's finally understanding after 46 years that I'n not a weird antisocial lumino-intolerent sound-hypersentitive with super specific fields of interest, and not giving a damn on other subjects.... Being diagnosed gave me an answer, and made me understand that I'm not alone with those challen...

I just love eating alone... no need to chit-chat and small talk to the others at the table. I like just being with myself, and enjoy a good lunch. Sometimes I get a weird look when they ask me if I'm waiting for someone or if I would like the newspaper. When I decline, they usually ask me if I'm &qu...

I like to take walks... it's good for exercising and it provides me with the needed alone time. While walking, I usually keep my mind busy by factorizing numbers for prime numbers, optimizing electronic circuits, visualizing radio propagation of the antennas I see along the way.

Hi, Just got diagnosed a few months ago, and it hit me like a ton of bricks... finally I can put words on and understand what was "wrong" with me. I'm in my mid 40's, and feel like it's a new "me". Currently, only my wife knows about it. I have a younger son that does not know ab...
