WP seems so dead lately. Each time I visit, the same threads are at the top of each subforum (I don't mean the stickys), and some subforums haven't even been posted in for a few days. I miss the days when you could actually have a lengthy discussion in a thread with several members on the same day....

Is Asperger's Evolution In Process? February 21st, 2013, 8:51 am I have a theory. Asperger's is evolution in process. Human brains are changing and we are becoming smarter, so nature has to accommodate for our changing environment by preparing the human race, or catching us up rather, for the rapid...

Like I said in the other thread while the Autistic Superpowers meme is mainly a well intended counter to the Autism mentally ill and retard ideas, and in this case to counter the vicious attacks on a teenager by middle age adults, it is supremacist. Instead of saying autistics are not fully human i...

I have read enough autism is a gift and the related autism is a superpower, autism is the next stage of evolution to know it is a thing. As far as I can tell, the origin of the "next stage of evolution" idea is this ABC documentary featuring an interview with Tony Attwood . The title of t...

YS, who has aspergers like I do with a high IQ, has hyperflexible joints and has a hard time even walking and is really slow and extremely clumsy, much worse than me, he never managed to ride a bike, couldn't catch, and still can't write properly although he can type a mile a minute. I am really wo...

One of the saddest things about parts of the Neurodiversity movement is the inability of many to separate their diagnosis from their themselves. There's a reason why many of us feel this way. When I began reading up on autism in earnest in early 2018, I found that just about every aspect of my pers...

While I agree with the Neurodiversity movements idea that a lot of the problems autistic people face are caused correctable societal misunderstanding and discrimination of the way we think and express ourselves via body language, this is why I can’t agree with those that posit autism is just a gift...

My parents weren't ashamed of me for being autistic, because my mum told everyone. But I could tell that she was unhappy about me having a mental disability, so I've always felt unhappy about having a mental disability too. Do you feel that your parents violated your privacy by telling "everyo...

As for why a lot of people (mainly, if not exclusively, heterosexuals) "don't want to combine friendship and dating," I really don't know. My guess is that this may be a leftover from the days of more-rigid gender roles and segregation of the sexes, when people just didn't have opposite-s...

I've decided to change my signature. I've also decided to preserve my old signature here: - Finally diagnosed with ASD in May 2019, after having suspected it for over ten years, and after having deeply explored the autism community for over one year while waiting for and obtaining diagnosis. - In lo...

Another New Yorker here. My boyfriend and I do work-at-home computer programming, making a lot less money than we could if we worked in a corporate office (which we can't do for various reasons). Both of us have been diagnosed with ASD. I had no friends as a child, but I managed to make a bunch of f...
