Hi, anyone else get told they’re being defiant or stubborn or manipulative if they don’t understand something an NT says? I’m pretty smart and mask well so people think I’m very capable in many situations. So when I don’t understand something they think is clear and simple they can’t believe I don’t...

[/quote] So what would it stop us to slowly develop it as a habit (meaning you don't need to be self-conscious about them the same way you are not self-conscious any skills after being experienced in it.). We obviously do develop habits, so then why socializing better isn't one of them? Are you sayi...

My mum says because of a lot of anger I have towards myself I should see a therapist. She says a therapist is different from a mental health who prescribes medication and she is getting concerned when I take out my anger at myself on others by snapping and yelling. I don't know what to do about my ...

Hi, I’m both a nurse and I used to get the same on my inner thighs and upper back thighs. They are caused by Staph bacteria which thrive in moist dark places where the skin gets irritated from friction and the staph spreads around easily. Make sure you keep the areas clean and dry meaning if you get...

Your post is too long. Now, I have a headache. Sometimes I wish that a lot of people that come to this site would stop over analyzing themselves and just live life. If other people see you as different, so be it. You can also see them as different too. :( i wish people wouldn’t say such mean things...

Hi! I’m new here too. I’m super interested in your tips and tricks for learning languages. I love linguistics and would love to learn more languages but I don’t have the best memory. I feel like I’ve been stuck at level 1 spanish and japanese for years. I would love to get an aspie perspective on cr...

I’ve been wondering a lot about how much thought they put into it, because all the social norms are learned so there must be some thought. Maybe they don’t have to try as hard because they learn all the rules naturally, more quickly and earlier. And I don’t have that same wiring so I didn’t learn th...

Did not play with other kids until I was 7 or 8, didn’t speak until after 2, super bored in school until my mom told them I was bored and not stupid and they gave me more advanced lessons, tons of anxiety and fear (so many things and people were so loud and didn’t make sense), hated being touched an...

Hi there! I had a similar experience in my assesssment. I don’t know any other way to think so I thought it was normal to be super conscious and hypervigilant in every interaction and that other people were better at or quicker at doing that than I was. Nope, turns out NTs apparently just “get it” m...

I was just diagnosed this past week as being on the spectrum and I’m still wrapping my head around it. I’m here to learn and get advice and share my experience. I grew up in a super small town, now live in a big city, cis-female, white, married to an NT for 5 years, no kids, work in an office, not m...

I’m only a few days into this journey of “finding myself” after being recently diagnosed and I’ve found it very hard to not mask, it’s so second nature that I have to very consciously let it down. I’m starting to recognize now I hold myself together and numb out things that get to me (sensory wise) ...

I wanted to add that I told my parents this weekend about just being diagnosed and they were not surprised. I had been afraid they’d look at me differently so I wanted to tell them in person while we together and after some questions and their agreement that it made total sense based on my behavior ...

I’m not sure yet, I was just recently diagnosed at 39. I felt so much relief the moment I heard the words, then some fear welled up that people would look at me differently or reject me if I shared this diagnosis (that will take some getting used to). Mostly I feel vaguely numb at the moment, which ...

I don’t. I’m almost 40 and gave up on my legs in high school and go through fazes with my arm pits. I know it weirds some people out but I’ve never been that concerned about that. I always argue hair is natural and that shaving just reinforces gender binaries.
