Is this just an anxiety thing or Autistsm thing? When something happens that I am not expecting my anxiety level skyrockets. I go quiet and don't say much because that one thing is all I am thinking about. Like when i get a bad grade in school or someone changes what they had originally told me woul...

Memory varies a lot, but something I noticed here is that some folks on the spectrum (myself and my son included) have a lot of detailed memories from a very early age and somewhat less emotionally driven memories than usual.[/quote] I have a ton of random memories that I know no one but me will rem...

I have recently been trying to talk to my mom about things I specifically remember as a kid. And some of it she doesn't remember. Like the most recent one is that I have memories of fears I had as a kid but she says she doesn't remember me being scared of much of anything. Do you think kids hide tha...

I find I question it the most when I try to talk to someone (who knows nothing about ASD) about it and they say something along the lines of "no your not" or "are you sure" "you should get a second opinion". I have gotten a second opinion and one of them specializes in ...

Yay! I am happy for you! I am thinking of getting a diagnosis myself. I have had huge amounts of anxiety the past couple months after learning about me probably being autistic (said by a specialist in adult autism). I think having the official diagnosis might help me a lot.

I think I might be a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to certain things. Like when I was employed I would do a good job but not stress out and try to go above and beyond, though to be fair that would have been impractical considering how over-worked we tended to be. But I've been beating myself...

People who don't know me well tend to believe me when/if I tell them. People who get to know me for a long time seem more jarred by the discussion. You'd think it'd be the opposite, but that's my observation. I find that too actually. I don't know if it's the same with you, but I feel for me it mig...

I really need to learn to calm down on the whole perfection thing. Its bad! It causes me too much unneeded stress. Anyone have any ways they deal with it? I've been realizing that I often repeat things over in my mind (like interactions with people) and it's not exactly explicit but I'm kind of sca...

oh boy... I am way to open and honest with people that I hardly even know. I realize after I have said something that I shouldn't have said it. I also am very honest in interviews (if I am not quiet) sometimes I think its what makes me not get the job. I also gossip a lot. I know I shouldn't, but I ...

I mask so well apparently even my family has a hard time with the possibility of ASD. I told my sister I went to a specialist who told me she thinks I have autism. My sister said " no you don't! Don't let other people tell you how you are. They don't know you." It made me mad. 1. Because I...

I think part of it is my childhood and always being told I was perfect and wanting to live up to that. But also I have been that way since I was a toddler. Lately I my anxiety has been super high and it is causing me to not be "perfect" in school. Which in turn is causing more anxiety. It'...
