I have felt like life is easier. Interactions in stores seem to go more smoothly, and people are more polite to me. The only problem is I have a harder time hearing what people say and vice versa.

Don't know what the most Aspie thing I ever did would be, but one of the earliest was when my family had a birthday party for me as a child and invited some kids. When they started singing "Happy Birthday" I was so startled and confused that I ended up hiding under the table covering my ea...

Yesterday in the grocery store everyone was wearing a mask. I've got a home-made cloth one, which may not do much good, but since I have asthma and seasonal allergies I get a chronic cough all spring and if I coughed in the store without a mask on they might tell me to leave.

Once when I was a child, I asked my mom what would happen if anyone had an itch that they weren't able to scratch, and she said that they would probably go crazy. I spent a long time believing that was actually how people went insane.

All my life. From grade school through high school it was pretty much daily. Decreased the most in college, but still happened sometimes. Increased again to varying levels when I started working, everywhere I've worked.

Yes, people have acted weirdly like that around me all my life. It's extremely frustrating because I would love to be accepted or even make a couple of friends, but it seems impossible. I get the staring, the awkwardness, and the silence you described, or sometimes outright derision or hostility. Ev...

I'm working from home instead of going in to the office. Not having the commute is nice. I tried instant messaging the few co-workers that used to say hi to me, but no one reciprocates, so my hope that I was becoming a little bit accepted is gone. Anxiety, depression, and insomnia are increasing - I...

There is much to worry about right now, but all we can do is get through it and remember that this situation won't last forever. Maybe once it's over, the old ordinary anxieties will continue to seem less important than they used to.

Yesterday I was watching the news, and afterwards my wife asked me if I'd noticed the look that the President gave one of his aides when a reporter asked a pointed question, and then she laughed and said that reporter won't be allowed back. I never saw the look at all. Probably wouldn't have known w...

Same here, both me and my extroverted wife are working at home right now, and I feel more responsible for taking care of her interaction needs. I don't want her to get depressed. We both work at processing health insurance claims, so there is likely to be lots of overtime. I'm lucky to still have a ...

Mainly I feel disappointed in it. When I first got a Facebook account, I thought it was wonderful because I could connect with the music scene I like and found out about loads of new bands that way. I also sent friend requests to some of the nicer people at work and for a while believed that I would...

About equally feminine and masculine. Although, it would be more accurate to state it the way I've always felt - equally neither feminine nor masculine. As a child I was not interested in stereotypically girl or boy toys, just in reading, drawing, and daydreaming. As a teen I never learned fashion, ...

My company ordered us all to work from home for the next three weeks, so I'll have to get used to it. I won't miss the commute, but I do like seeing some of my co-workers. I like getting out of the house to go walking, or work out at the gym, or eat at my favorite cafe. I would get restless being in...
