I sometimes make weird noises simply because I enjoy making noises. Occasionally I might be bored or want to annoy somebody. I also like to show off the noises I make. Regardless of the specific reason, my noises are always for some kind of entertainment purpose.

I have also wondered about both of them being on the spectrum. I look forward to future season(s) to see if the writers take the show down that path. I think I would like it if they did.

I loved getting off work early when I worked in retail. Now that I am a teacher, that never happens and I am okay with that. I am not super rigid. For example, yesterday I was on my way to lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant where I was going to eat by myself. Halfway there, I got a phone call f...

I recently saw Frozen 2 in theaters and absolutely fell in love with the song "show yourself." I have most definitely listened to it on repeat ever since getting home. I think this song means so much to me because it is about self-acceptance...something I have been struggling with as of la...

I am sorry you feel this way. You cannot let yourself get focused on the statistics. You are more than a number in a very large, diverse data set. You have the power to beat the odds. I would recommend getting yourself a therapist if you don't have one already. They can work with you on all of the t...

That is what describes people I've met/heard of in my life with Asperger's. To me, Asperger's is as different to autism as what domestic cats are to wild lions and tigers. They are all in the cat family but have their differences (and similarities). I think they are very different too. I am what wo...

What are the seven different therapists for, if you don't mind me asking?

I was diagnosed as an adult not too long ago, but I just finished reading Tony Attwood's book "The complete guide to Asperger's syndrome" and there was a section towards the end about how to positively inform a child about it. It might be worth looking into the book for that reason and oth...

Yes, except I am opposite and like the TV volume to be on either an even number OR a multiple of 5.

The FIRST thing I would do is get rid of what is blatantly GARBAGE. Yes, this definitely makes it much easier. I have a bad habit of letting cups accumulate in my room, so they are almost always the first things to go. For me, even do that little bit is often enough to make me feel good about progr...

So, I know that going into our assessments a lot of us have had common concerns that we've spent so much time looking up autism that we would unconsciously "make it fit" during the assessment. I, along with others that I know, even brought these concerns up to the assessor and were met wit...

In case anybody ever wants to know for future reference...

I did end up asking him before I did it, and he said that he really appreciated that I asked and said it was absolutely okay to do.

So even though it felt like a weird question to ask, I am glad that I did.

Oakling, that is exactly what it is.

Fnord, I feel like I should ask him first and I know that seems like a common sense answer, but it just seems like such a weird thing to ask.

Is it okay to sit criss cross apple sauce on my therapist's sofa? Do any of you guys do that? Should I ask him first?

So, I hate admitting this, but I am 100% a hoarder. Like an actual hoarder, not just somebody that likes to collect certain things (although that is true of me as well). It could easily be said that my life is literally a mess. I moved back into my parents' house a year and a half ago and since then...
