It is my opinion that, especially at the high-functioning end, one can develop NPD. It may develop as a result of trying to fake being normal; because the image they put out to the world is the one that is accepted, they might do everything they can to maintain the illusion...eventually forgetting t...

What he said and how it was interpreted is irrelevant. I'm trying to say that the American Asperger's/Autism community has been waiting for so long for an administration that might actually listen and do something. Obama is that administration; the time for whining and sobbing is over. The time to s...

My fellows on the spectrum, I haven't read every posting on this particular board, but a cursory glance at one title-Obama insults disabled people-motivates me to quote the old adage: It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Obama is the most open president we've had since John F...

I suggest that you read about Atlas Shrugged , which has vaguely similar themes. I don't suggest that you read it, except maybe perhaps in small doses, as it was the most boring piece of crap that I had ever read. I have it, it's not what I'm going for. Its' vaguely similar, but not the same approa...

Thank you for your feedback, Gifted-Monster. It seems that Enki has taken a break from his sci-fi story post… So their evil would be likely to be indirective, like Einstein helped developing the atomic bomb… Oh bionics! I didn’t think of that solution to sensory issues. Nice idea. Bionics could mak...

Other scientists tried to reproduce the experiment, and were unable to; real science is not as exciting as sensationalism, so it went unreported outside the scientific community. Besides, the whole idea of it was pretty ridiculous; something for nothing? Second Law of Thermodynamics people.

Neither. We don't know enough about the universe to come up with a theory of everything; such talk was going on toward the end of the 19th century...then radiation put an end to those attempts. Relativity also. Quantum theory. Now we're trying to unify all these forces again? In order to even begin ...

A little while back I heard about how deficiencies in mirror neurons account for ASD's apparent difficulty in empathy. Although Wikipedia is far from authorative, take a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empathy#cite_note-63 . (Footnote 64) If it is true (and I remain somewhat tentative) th...

Okay, here's the deal; when I was in grade school (a term I will use to refer to the time period between K-12), I had well-defined schedules and a simpler life in the suburbs. Now, having no plan and a massive amount of responsibilities on the farm combined with a lack of self-discipline and time ma...

Geothermal power I'm a bit iffy on. AFAIK, Antarctica has no volcano's due to tectonic stability. A potential idea would be cold fusion, solar, nuclear (Nuclear is highly approved especially fusion. Antarctica has deposits of every element AFAIK). If I recall correctly, there is one active volcano ...

If I recall correctly, a site called Aspergia once was home to this community. The basic premise of this site seemed to be a sort of virtual "promised land" for those on the spectrum. I've been thinking about this for some time; what would a society comprising entirely of autistics be like? How woul...

Sorry to hear that. Perhaps you're not "college" material? Is there a job training program you could do, instead? Somewhere you could learn a trade? Is your farm what supports your family? If that's the case, then your mother is probably up to her eyeballs in work trying to keep it going so that yo...

Your life is your life. If you don't like meaningless parties or sporting games then don't go and don't pretend you want to. Just be a good friend to those people you choose to be your friends. Furthermore, from my own limited experience, if you have no intention/ability to make friends, at least b...

Taking care of yourself and taking care of the people in your life is a balancing act. That's that reciprocity that Aspies need to consciously work on... and a lot of NTs do too, in my opinion. Really consciously developing my compassion, both for myself and for others near to me, has really helped...

You say you went off the anti-depressants a while back. Would that be about the time things went downhill at school? Some anti-depressants do more than decrease depression, some help the thinking/organization. Going back on, maybe at a lower dose, may help with the study/focus power. If you're coll...
