Besides having autism, I identify as asexual and aromantic. I have never felt sexual attraction to anyone. I have always considered myself as a tomboy. Wearing more masculine clothing and always having short hair. I have always believed myself to be female. I have always wondered about non-binary or... |

I am the one with executive dysfunction. I know you did not ask for fixes, but I thought I would share some things that help. I worked with a professional organizer a few years ago. She helped me define a specific place for everything. I do not have a junk drawer. Literally everything has a place. T... |

I love having short hair. Mine is probably the length you described. There were definitely upset relatives as I have "beautiful strawberry blonde". As a teen I grew it out to fit in. I was a brides maid once and grew it out as much as possible. Day after the wedding I got it cut off. Last ... |

Things like social skills, expressing and recognizing emotions all can be learned. I do not mean just faking or acting. As you recognize the the things that can trigger stress and overstimulation, you can avoid or try to mitigate these triggers. Rigidity related to keeping things the same and avoid ... |

Does anyone ever experience more or less sensitivity to one side of the body vs the other (right or left)?
I think I might be more sensitive to touch on my right vs my left. |

It does not make a difference with "type" of hug. They are just neutral to me. |

Thanks so far. I like the idea about showing what I mean. I am asexual and aromantic, so the BF or GF thing is out of the question. Like I said I am neutral to hugs. I grew up in an emotionally abusive family that included never talked about feelings. As an adult I had to learn how to do all of that... |

First I am not sure if this would be better in the Social Skills or here. I chose here. Let me know if it is not the best. For the vast majority of my life I have not felt comfort or connection with hugs. Neither giving nor receiving. I have explored this many times in therapy. I do not think it is ... |

I have aphantasia and autism. I have known about the aphantasia for many years, but only the name for a couple years. I still have imagination and creativity. It is just way more difficult. Somehow my brain can work without the images. Instead of looking at a picture, I guess for me it is reading a ... |

I am in the same situation. I am 35 and just got diagnosed as well. In general, I do not tell my dad anything. If he knows something it is because my mom shared it with him. I have decided that I first need to let the diagnosis sink in a bit more before I share it with my mom. Overall, I know my mom... |

Have you called your insurance yourself? I just went through the process. The hard part for me was finding a psychologist on my insurance that would test adults. Depending on the insurance you should not need a referral. DBT has helpful skills that can help, but it is definitely not an all inclusive... |

Well... I got a 115 on the Alexithymia test. I would consider that a yes.
I already knew I had Aphantasia.
Then, as someone else mentioned I might as well add that I am aromantic and asexual. |
