I've solved my bra sensory issues by switching to camisoles with built in shelf bra. That's all the support I need. Pact Clothing makes them with the elastic in the shelf bra fully enclosed in the fabric, unlike Hanes and Froot of the Loom, which helps with irritation as I am sensitive to the latex ...

I'm Rose, 51 in the US, and was diagnosed last year. I'm also going through menopause and will soon be going through divorce. I think I'm experiencing autistic burnout. I'm dropping masks right and left, trying to peel away the layers and figure out who I am without them. I was raised by a very domi...

I just read Neuotribes and this issue was addressed carefully. Asperger wasn't a member of the Nazi party, but he did sign off on several "low functioning" kids being sent away to be murdered. The author felt that he did it to protect a lot of other kids from the same fate. He seems to hav...

So glad for older autistic women. I'm 51 and was diagnosed late last year-ish? I also am feeling cautious of an "official" diagnosis, though I am not at all uncertain that I'm on the spectrum. Can someone explain the difference between level 1 and 2 and so on?

I really enjoyed watching the crows while waiting for the bus. They really enjoyed harassing squirrels. They seemed to be doing it just for fun. They'd drop a french fry or some other food that they'd nicked from a trash can and drop it for the squirrel. Then, when the squirrel went to pick it up, a...

I find it is mostly used to belittle autistic experiences as in everybody is a little bit autistic, everybody has problems, and we overcome them, now stop complaining and try harder. ^ This I agree with this. Someone said this to me recently and I responded "If everyone were "a little aut...

I don't know if this counts but I don't know when something shouldn't be repeated and I think that counts as making inappropriate comments? I'm trying my best but every now and again I let something slip which is supposed to be a secret or something you are not supposed to say and get in trouble fo...

| I habe been in a gradual decline over many years and the stresses of life have become more and more. I feel I may have been in, or close to burnout for a decade, and every year I am more and moee fragile. The smallest thing can send me into a partial shutdown after partial shutdown... | From what I've observed in myself and other aspies is that we've somehow missed getting the BS gene. I got into trouble for telling the truth more times than I can count. It went something like this: "You must always tell the truth and never lie! Or you will be punished because God hates a liar... |

I turned 50 in April. I went looking for information about Asperger's so I could understand my partner better I found myself. I got 39 on the AQ10 and 164 on the Aspie Quiz. Knowing I'm on the spectrum now, after 50 years of confusion and struggle has been.... interesting. I spent the first few week...

Some of the replies on that article made my blood boil. They essentially amounted to "God's put me in charge of you and you don't get to question Mah Authoriteh!" My mother, who has narcissistic personality disorder (what kind of God would pair up an aspie girl with a mother like that, any...

I am on the spectrum and I drink. I think that as a central nervous system depressant, alcohol helps me when I'm on the verge of a meltdown. A shot of vodka or whiskey and 10 minutes later I can feel the tension leaving my body. It also helps in social situations with anxiety. Unfortunately, the tip...
