Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: How far would you go if a pre-natal test for Autism emerged?

I support any test being available, but I think the results would be sad. I can't decide whether I'm pro-choice or pro-life - I have a lot of issues with both sides. I think way too many people are aborting kids who may or may not have some form of disability - people even abort babies with cleft pa...

Here the part of the pro-life/pro-choice debate that I don't understand, the male point of view of it. Men don't get pregnant and they don't choose to have abortions, so they should not have a say in the debate. That's a good point, but I don't agree because the fetuses being aborted belong to the ...

LeKiwi is right quirky, you really do need to think before you speak. Also use paragraphs when you make a long post, I had a real hard time reading them. Sorry, I will break them up from now on. But I did think long and hard before I spoke. Nothing that was said in response to me was something that...

I'm glad you can sort of see both sides, and you do seem more reasonable than most. I don't think you're a horrible misogynist or religious freak or anything at all - sorry if I came across like that (damn PMS!). I guess what I'm saying is love and everything is great, but if it means being homeles...

Of course they love the baby. Nobody would have an abortion unless they needed it. The moment you conceive you're a mother, and you will always be a mother. I have no children, but I've glimpsed it, and believe me - that love, that feeling, is something else. You don't abort out of choice. Many peo...

quirky, think before you speak. Really. People abort for many reasons. Who the hell are you to pass judgement? How on Earth can you make the decision about MY life, MY body, MY child, when you don't even know who I am? What gives you any right to decide my entire future, and deign me to be incapabl...

many times the adopting couple pays a lot of money to the expectant mother. Adoptive parents pay money to surrogate mothers who become pregnant specifically for the purpose of providing them with a child. They do not pay any money to women who became pregnant by accident - they man pay a great deal...

Hi. I have this problem, where it's like I don't have a solid opinion on anything, with the exception of really basic stuff like murder, rape, my personal survival, etc. There is so much data, and I can never be just on one side of an argument, because I can see and understand both sides fully...ev...

Yesterday my college tutor told me I'd lost my place in college due to lack of attendance, and now I'm pretty much screwed, as that was basically my last option. I started 3 weeks ago and couldn't attend more than the first day due to how overwhelming it all was. I didn't realise it would be so soc...

It's not that I'm really bothered by people judging me - it depends on what they're judging. It's more I hate people knowing why I'm acting a certain way in the moment, like there's no privacy. It's not that I'm mad they think they got me figured out - it's that they do have me figured out and that ...

I have a big problem with feeling like people know what I'm thinking or knowing what they are thinking. It's not like a schizophrenic thing - I don't think we're literally in each other's minds, but it makes me feel invaded or furious that people are being transparent to me. I can't seem to get past...

People who kill for pleasure scare me. Of course, I'm not against hunting for people who truly need the food or fur from the animals, but enjoying taking down a beautiful creature like a deer seems barbaric to me. What is impressive about being able to hurt something helpless because you have a high...

I'm still 100% sure it is genetic it just would make a whole load of sense...nearly everyone in my family has traits of autism, even my "blood" brother has a mild form of asperges. And i was hearing from my mum about my grandma having these traits. So thts why I think its 100% genetic... But then h...

It's clearly mostly genetic, as it runs in families, and even if it was triggered by something like vaccines, there would have to be a genetic component to trigger, as millions of kids get vaccines and only a small amount of them are autistic. I definitely think it's mostly genetic, but maybe some ...

I don't agree that it is 100% genetic and if there is science out there that has in fact identified a gene, I'd like to see it. On the vaccine issue, I can at least stand as an example that should in some way debunk the theory. My family moved on a monthly basis and myself and my siblings were cons...
