Have you ever been officially checked? first:"a combination of traits that may be similar to autism but not autism itself" what is autism or Aspergers if not a collection of traits? we don't know what genes, environmental causes, or physical parts of the brain are involved, so the only thing we can ...

But where the difference lies is in how you work with what you perceive to be flaws. You can read that Sally broke up with her Aspie boyfriend because of certain flaws. You see yourself in him, so you don't think you have a chance. But maybe how you handle your issues is different than how Sally's ...

people who cheat the system definitely get more attention than those who don't. and yes, you're right, welfare money should not be spent feeding addictions instead of caring for one's kids. however the first post was a blanket statement. the "all" was implied. they didn't complain about the use of ...

I think the ridiculousness of the adults at your school and your fortitude in surviving it would make a great script. Have you ever thought of writing about your school experience? I guess it would be what they call a tragi-comedy. I just found out yesterday that when I was tested for placement bef...

I remember being publicly humiliated as a form of punishment. I was overwhelmed and ran away to hide in the bathroom, and when the teacher managed to cajole and threaten me into coming back, she asked the entire class to tell me how terrible they thought it was for me to do that. that was the day I ...

those who are on welfare don't necessarily chose to be. I'm the child of a mom on welfare because of a disability: she is physically incapable of working. she can't afford to send me to college, she can't even afford to keep feeding me (if I stay at home after 18 ) unless I pay rent. there were no b...

The only flaw that I would really mind is lack of communication
ironically, my aspie boyfriend and I communicate better than my family and I do, so it works out perfectly. he may have a million flaws (I dunno) but I don't especially care, he can communicate.

My dad told me I have a superiority complex today, and while it’s true that I feel as if I’m better than everybody else, I don’t understand why this is such a bad thing. I go to school full-time and get very good grades, I still manage to hold down a part-time job at the same time, I never used ill...

I'm really sorry about the experience with the therapist. I had one like that, but he was very genial and I felt bad interrupting him, so eventually I 'accidentally' forgot appointements and stopped going. the only kind of therapist that would help is one who listens. in theory, that's what they're ...

Canada, actually, so yeah, a bit of a different system to go through, I suppose. mom did a lot of setting it up, and a lot of it was because we were generally underpriviledged most of the time. we got funding for being autistic too, and there was an autism support group in town to point us to the ri...
