The site of the original (long gone) Bethpage Long Island Railroad station is easy to find. Some railroad enthusiasts put up a plaque at the railroad turntable, which was there, and you can see a pit and some brick foundation. I had gone into the woods where it is with little hope of finding anythin... |

Welcome to Wrong Planet. Plenty of us here in our 60s. I agree a formal diagnosis is not useful if you feel you have always belonged here. I am also self-diagnosed and have been since 1978 at age 20. |

My father was an alcoholic who often went into a rage and had plenty of cruel words. I don't remember anything particularly cruel directed at me. He would say "I wish I had never had kids" within earshot of his kids though. I was often spanked and my older sister found that to be excessive... |

I thought it was a good introduction to autism (ASD 101). Hopefully it will be widely viewed. I would expect some people to have a lot of questions that were not answered in this introduction. |

Remember ASD is a developmental disorder and how social interactions went as a child are of primary importance. Some of us are able to overcome these social deficits as an adult to a large degree. What Joe describes is the kind of thing I experience: Sometimes I'm not always sure whether to go up to... |

No, it was terrible to not know why I seemed to be on the wrong planet. Self diagnosing in 1978 was a small relief, since I had no idea how many others there were like me. I did know that science and engineering were popular careers for us, so at least I would be around some others as an engineer. N... |
