Yes, I think it reflects poorly on autistics. Such videos may be popular by playing to prejudice ideas.

Although, I think statistically pedophiles do not display odd or autistic like behavior. But people want to think they do so they can protect children by only having them around NT types.

I think you should say "I don't always get social situations, hints, subtleties etc. I need clear instructions and clarity, not vague hints". If they understand this means you are ASD then fine, if they don't then it probably was a good idea to not tell them. Not that I've tried this idea,...

I think we will need more specifics about the situation to provide an answer.

It is a problem for mankind. The world needs to come together and work out solutions. We are not off to a good start with the way Russia is behaving. Aspies may be the only ones capable of taking the lead on a global scale as Greta Thunberg and Elon Musk are demonstrating. You think they are not goi...

I went ahead and picked the age I will die at. This gives me incentive to get anything important done before then. I picked an age which seems wildly optimistic compared to any of my male ancestors, but would seem pessimistic to anyone who knows me and how healthy I seem. I have a fear that there is...

It's all about the idea that autistic adults don't matter. They take kids of certain age and the autistic ones do much worse in some cognitive areas. That's because they have a DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY. It's doesn't mean they can't catch up in these areas later.

One thing to consider is whether you noticed any symptoms when she was a toddler and young child. Although I know those can be harder to spot in a girl than a boy. Has she taken the AQ ASD pre-screening quiz? I would do that before pursuing a diagnosis.

When someone is cooking with onions I get a depressed, lethargic feeling. Smell sensitivity seems to be common in ASD, but the feeling it causes for me doesn't seem to be common.

Claustrophobia causes nausea. I looked this one up and found a list of 16 symptoms of Claustrophobia.

One point I forgot to add to my recommendation of the series and film. They always have to make the characters extra cringy to make the plot interesting. I found it far fetched that Violet could have that level of social cluelessness along with other less severe issues.

IsabellaLinton, you're quite a survivor. ASD-2 people can and do survive living independently, but not easily. At first, I had trouble understanding what the issues are for ASD-2 people achieving independent living. I have a better feel for it now and IsabellaLinton's story is not surprising to me. ...

Welcome to Wrong Planet. Your self-diagnosis story is similar to my own. I had a special interest in psychology at the time. This was before Rainman and before the "spectrum" became a thing, although I did know of autism but didn't have a real suspicion that I might be autistic. I happened...

Hello. Welcome to Wrong Planet. Level 3 is the most severe form of autism. Children in this category will have many of the same behaviors as those with levels 1 and 2. Please don't confuse the levels with severity. The levels are support needs. So all level 3 means is the accessors want him to get ...
