I think I'm the evil roommate in the years I lived with other people at college. All I ever wanted was to do the minimum necessary chores and then disappear and be left alone. But that didn't go over well. The first year was fine... she irritated me a little because she was depressed all the time an...

I get the "she looks so sad and lonely sitting by herself, I think I'll save her" thing a lot, but it never results in lasting friendships. More like uncomfortable, awkward affairs where I'm invited into a group for a couple encounters, but I can't relate to them, feel obligated to go back but am re...

How much do you all think finding innocence attractive correlates to age? Seems like a lot of young people find it a turn-off... they want the maturity and glamor that comes with being worldly, maybe... but older people have had their fill of that and it becomes rarer and rarer to come across a pers...

I agree with GroovyDruid in part, but not completely. Sure, you're probably dealing with plenty of barriers. And if you're both into the communication that's happened so far, he's probably equally drained. In a spectrum friendship you can't apply normal standards to what is expected of people... you...

I don't get tinnitus but I do shake when I'm stressed, and one of my ears starts hurting for no reason whatsoever. I figure it's got to be stress related because it goes away as soon as I relax and never happens when I'm calm and alone.

It wouldn't have been the best thing to do by any means, but realistically what I would have done is shut up and listened very carefully until their conversation had run its course, gone off by myself, ranted to either WP or one of my friends, and then ditched them as friends.

For a more extreme example, I suggest The Myth of Being Alone which at the time of this post was the most recent entry in the blog I linked to. (See about halfway down for the part about overload.) My overload is much milder than that. But overload in general can take on both physical and emotional ...

Do you have an official diagnosis? You may be able to get out of it if you tell the judge or lawyers that you find the surroundings overwhelming enough that you wouldn't be able to make a reasonable objective decision while serving on a jury.

Pyraxis, given what you have posted above, how do you manage your interactions with regard to a romantic relationship? Specifically - boundaries, distancing, frequency of interaction, etc. ? I know you're probably hoping for good news but you're not going to get it, at least from me. I've only done...

Does any of this make sense to any Aspie's out there? As an NT, this was an unusual experience for me, given my history with other NT males. I find this statement fascinating... Can you explain what would be your usual experience in situations like these? What signals would you be reading from the ...
