A few years back, when I learned I was an aspie, my "short comings" that I didn't know I had, were listed by every article I found on the subject of Asperger's Syndrome. Without my official approval, my brain started reviewing the events in my life. It took about two years, but it reevalua...

Mona Pereth certainly struck a chord with me. Although my life was deficient in many respects, I was successful in the things I loved, and the majority of those things were bequeathed to me by my father. He was a spiritual, gentle, and kind man blessed with many interests and talents. But his many h...

I've always felt like the NT's don't offer a large selection of potential friends to choose from :-) They are all highly influenced by society's standards and are loath to question them. They cannot converse about any subject that requires divergent thinking, which seems to be just about everything ...

I'm trying hard to avoid the "If only I had known earlier" game. It doesn't seem likely to lead to anything positive. So instead, I am focusing on rethinking my life experiences, and punishing myself less for "failing" in some of those cases. I am also trying to come up with way...

1. To the older Aspies: I don't know about you, but I had the same desperation for a love life that so many are expressing here. I didn't have a girlfriend until a few months before I married her when I was 23 "centuries" old. And I so badly wish I hadn't!! ! That mistake cursed my life fo...

When I'm around NT men I feel like I'm back on the school playground again, there is so much competition in them. Are aspies competitive? I've never been aware of being around other aspies. I have assumed not. I know when I worked in my chosen field, it was more like playtime. But under no circumsta...

...It doesn't do me any good since I can't see it :-) but it lets other people know that my engine is still running. LOL. I can have flat-affect (deadpan) no matter what I am feeling. I can be grinning from ear-to-ear no matter what I am feeling. Often I have so many and big feelings. Really: how i...

Yep, the issue of hurting someone is a biggie for me too. I feel dreadful that this guy was really invested in me to the point he couldn't be friends. I don't feel capable of taking on someone else as there's no guarantees in life and I don't want to keep hurting people by realising I can't handle ...

I hear you, dude. Hurting others is the worst thing to me, and amazingly more so for those I care for and/or love. That'll be one of the main reasons I've withdrawn from others (there's a few more), which no one would have known, but it doesn't change anything. It would have ended up hurting people...

Even when people are allowed to teach children sex facts that are age-appropriate, they fail to search out what is appropriate in places like Electronic Journal of Human Sexuality . Or better yet, why don't they recall their early memories of their own interest in sex. When I was in first grade (age...

I just want to raise my hand and voice in support of Taiwan's being deserving of their independence, as are all actually. They are good people who have individual rights also, and they should not be abandoned just because they are sitting in China's lap. I wish we were at least more vocal on their b...

It's hard to have a clear picture of things when we live in a "society" where the "norms" are set by the majority. A majority that I find rather disgusting in many ways. I do not like this society which places value on popularity instead of good ideas, especially since everyone i...

There is talk that children have brain elasticity, and apparently ASD adults do too relative to NT peers. At age 50 I am still thrilled (like a child) by stimuli (across all senses) ----- which sets me apart from the "mature" adults. Apparently being cool and adult-like is being nonreacti...

Honestly, I no longer believe "commitment" is good. I know it sounds crazy, but asking someone to surrender the option of abandoning a sinking ship (me) is absurd. If I love someone, or maybe care for them, or just respect them, I do not want to be responsible for hurting them or increasin...

I don't mind being around other people or even living with them if they don't expect me to make small useless talk all the time. Everything like household duties, preparing and eating meals, and even physical intimacy can be done on an as needed basis, if they just don't demand all my time and will ...
