I think a population crash is very likely...though it might not get here for a few centuries.
Putting AI in charge? There are a number of excellent or, at least, good science fiction movies like that. But: - Will it be in time to prevent climate collapse? - Will it care? |

My bride and I have made two long trips via train. 1. East coast U.S. to west coast, then west coast to east coast via Canadian rail. 2. NE U.S. to Florida...then back. We got private compartments on the train. Both trips were nice! Food was surprisingly good. To-and-from Florida I, the husband, not... |

Overall, I agree.
However, I think there are two possible ultimate uses of technology: - Some mitigation to long-term climate change results, or - Keeping some small refugee portion of humanity alive after climate change. |

My opinion has not changed. I expect weather to get more erratic, climate change to get stranger, and then things will get even worse. :( People can start making practical long term decisions to not purchase coastal property (at least on the beach). I agree with "not purchase coastal property&... |
