I was only 8 when I was diagnosed, but there were so many autism behaviours that I did not have, and I felt they were just nitpicking everything I did and putting it down to autism, even if it was normal kid behaviour. Really? tbh, I have seen a different method of diagnosing autism using a brain scan and showing the people stuff and seeing their reaction. | Your experience sounds very different to mine. I don't think I ever got a sign of what they thought of what I was saying, they would just listen and take notes as I talked and did activities. | If you don't think you have autism and you do well in life, why are you even being assessed for autism? A diagnosis without ever talking to the diagnostician face to face seems rather odd. There are so many things the diagnostician should assess that they can't possibly judge without talking to you... |
