It's not all Aspies either ... oh, I like Anime well enough, but I couldn't quote squat, I just enjoy it. However, Aspies do tend to have an obsession, and Anime is something easy to obsess over. My main obsession is a video game. Even there though, I don't take it quite as far as some. Before video...

Yay Alex! :D

I really hope that people listen to what you're saying. I'm becoming more and more frustrated by the way the Autism Speaks message is being rammed down my throat everywhere I go anymore. Can't even shop at Toy-R-Us for my kids anymore because of them.

I've always assumed that it was because of the common feeling among the aspies that I know personally that they were born on the wrong planet. All my life, I've felt so completely out of step with people around me. I sometimes thought the expression "walks to the beat of a different drum" was made j...

Last of the Mohicans ... never did finish it. I've found that a lot of older novels are really difficult for me to read. I also find the "Wheel of Time" series difficult, for the same reasons. Way too descriptive. I have to force myself to keep slogging through page after page of descriptive text. I...

lmao ... Sea Salt ... Either you're joking (I really can't tell) or you're very new to cold weather locations. The kind of salt you buy at the hardware store specifically for putting down on sidewalks. Hell, in my neighborhood, they sell 50lb. bags of it @ the grocers to. Here http://www.amazon.com/...

A couple of people have already said it, but I'll add in my 2¢. My mom always assumed that I needed friends, and was constantly pushing at me to go make them. Drove me ... and her ... nuts. I generally did have ONE good friend (we moved a lot, so it was a different friend), in retrospect I would bet...

I salted mine when that happened, to break up the ice dams ... and then had the roof replaced the next summer with a 2 layer roof that doesn't let ice dams form in the first place.

Yes, all the time. It has to be the most challenging part of doing my job. I get further and further behind on projects when my phone rings because of it.

Very interesting article. I hope Amanda keeps up the good work. I know I would be extremely stressed dealing with so much attention. I can't help but wonder just how many who have been classified as low functioning are in reality just someone who's language we haven't bothered to learn.

I always used to tell the school that if I were in charge of handing out teaching certificates for teachers to be allowed to work with Spectrum people, I'd require them to teach a cat three dog tricks first. It can be done but they'd have to humble themselves into getting out of their own heads and...

I usually do some smart ass reply.

For example:
"The price of crude"
"My blood pressure"
"The sky"

etc. The one I hate is "How are you doing?" ... though, my cure for that one is to tell them, in excruciating detail.

Haven't watched TV since November 2006, and don't miss it. Like someone else, I do watch DVD's and play video games on it. With the rise of Netflix though, I really don't see the need for broadcast television anymore.

shaggydaddy said it clearly here is the thing. Autism is a genetic condition. There is only 1 known cure for genetic conditions: Genocide. We are not talking about curing a disease, we are talking about keeping people from being born. And if you don't think that's what would happen, just look at wha...
