Personally, I don't buy into it, but wasn't it mostly Catholics that buy that Trinity BS. No, it was established at the First Council of Nicaea and is today accepted by Protestant, Orthodox, and Church of the East Christians alike. Non-trinitarian Christians are oddballs like Oneness Pentecostals, ...

There used to be a phone booth on my way to school as a kid. I used to visit it every day I walked past to check if there was change in the return slot. If so, lollies from the school shop! Yes, I remember that well :)! The happy sound of the coins clanking down into the little shelf below the phon...

Because of the higher rate of mass murders in the USA this year, New Zealand (for the first time AFAIK) has recently issued a travel warning to NZ citizens considering travel to/in the USA.

Sad.

Seems too high. I googled the ratio and found that 1 in 14 is the ratio given by Alzheimers.org in the UK.

My biggest is this dichotomy: AS people = routinely depicted by their challenges while NTs are routinely depicted by their appitudes. Secondly: I think that the NT addiction to small talk is an NT form of stimming. The narrative is of course that only AS people stim because NTs are "normal"...

Welcome to Wrong Planet. I'm glad you've joined us. You reminded me of a terrible time in my life years ago when I became very ill and was missed and misdiagnosed (which wasted critical time) by 3 doctors before desperately seeking help from a 4th at a clinic. Unlike the others, he instantly realise...

I sometimes find it hard to set boundaries with people who disrespect me. Especially when I get blindsided by people i don't know well, who make inappropriate comments or are intrusive in some way. And these failures to assert my own boundaries diminish my confidence in me. Sometimes I'm surprised a...

Yes, I do think it is a catch-all diagnosis. There are enormous and diverse gaps between the ways autism manifests and effects people. I also doubt autism even has the "one common cause" that researchers have searched in vain to identify. Even here on WP we don't really know which symptom ...

I so understand, SharonB. I have - like most AS women - been so traumatised by dismissal, invalidation and refusal to listen by doctors over decades that now, at the first sign of invalidation from a practitioner I go into brain freeze. The energy cost of self advocacy in this circumstance is huge. ...

The medical bias has been studied, confirmed, voiced for years; this has achieved no change whatever - that I can see - has not led to any apparent knowledge nor practice gains, and the diagnosing community seem now as incompetent, misinformed and dangerous as they were ten years ago. Even more so p...

It is very sobering to reflect that had Pence colluded with Trump's crooked demand to declare the election invalid, civil war in the USA would have probably followed. I suspect there may be a (dangerous) belief in USA today that because Trump's manipulations and lies failed then, future attempts to ...

I support your supposition, primarily because as I see it the "Big Division" remains volatile in the USA, purposely created by the posturing lies and manipulations of Trump; Trump is gone from the seat of ultimate official power, but his kind of evil cannot simply be voted out, it persists...

The Trump demolition of the longstanding ethos of "our fellow Americans" is almost completed. The USA is in dire peril now. Yes, I know this is an old 2016 thread. Fascinating to read it in 2022. As predicted in 2016, here, 1) Trump DID go on to refuse to acknowledge he lost the president...
