I have OCD, no ADHD and I strongly prefer pure math to applications and word problems.

Hi Everyone, I thought I'd share my music here since I am an Aspie musician. I have been involved with music my whole life. I started out DJing and rapping, then played the piano and drums a little. I have always done audio engineering as well, and in the past decade I got serious about collecting ...

I'm a professional math teacher and tutor diagnosed with ASD and OCD. I can see why OCD might make a subject like math a strength. I feel my value of organization, structure, and a willingness to focus somewhat intensely and singularly on problems is related to that success. At the same time, I tuto...

This is my first post here and I wanted to say hi. My name is Rich. I'm 41 years old, though I wasn't diagnosed with mild Asperger's and OCD until I was 39. I too am late-diagnosed. First suspected back in 2008, finally diagnosed in late 2019. I am an extremely detail-oriented person, which I think...

Ok, now that you explained your therapist's reaction to your question about autism, I understand your fears better. Also, if you had a suicide attempt that your parents do not know about, I feel that is a serious matter that should be addressed with a therapist and/or your school counselor. I could ...

I'm sorry to hear that for some reason you feel you can't be honest about this with your parents. I know what it's liked to be diagnosed and suddenly everything kind of makes sense. But I'm actually in the process of getting a second opinion, because I'm concerned that maybe I'm not, and if I'm not,...

I don't know the statistics about self compassion and aspies. I just know that I have a hard time with it and when one of my friends talks about it to me I don't understand she's talking about. Do any of you struggle with self compassion? I have no self compassion and I just would like people to ac...

It's long been my feeling that the question of "have I got ASD or not?" isn't as important as it might seem. If you have certain ASD traits, as you clearly have, then the overarching label might prove less useful than simply studying the traits themselves and figuring out whether you need...

Your characteristics are a lot like mine. A lot. I relate to all aspects of your first post as well as your post about NT traits. For some reason, feedback like this where "officially" diagnosed people can relate to my life's challenges is comforting. I think the diagnosis is important to...

Did he ask you about your childhood? Having difficulties is childhood is required for a diagnosis. If you are uncertain you could check school records, ask parents, etc. Hi, thanks for replying. :) No, he didn't. Someone upthread mentioned accommodations for a diagnosis, even as an adult, and that ...

AQ=35? Did the score come with a note that "Scores in the 33-50 range indicate significant Autistic traits (Autism)?" But the other test said NT. I'll have to defer to the experts (and I am not one of them) but it sounds like either you're somewhere in the blurry lower edge of the A u t i...

However, and I was afraid to admit this earlier for some reason, when he "tested" me on autism, it seemed like he just Googled "autism test" or had a link in his web browser, maybe it was some sort of official exam on his computer but it didn't seem that way. He asked me maybe 2...

I was diagnosed with mild Asperger's and OCD in 2019 But they took out Asperger from DSM 5 and ICD 11. What diagnostic criteria were they using to diagnose you, and what country are you at? I wasn't familiar with the terms DSM 5 and ICD 11, but I just read about it. The report I saw through my clin...
