What on Earth (this Earth, anyway) does the Multiple Worlds hypothesis of quantum physics have to do with either the number of dimensions our universe is comprised of, or the question of whether gays should be allowed to openly serve in the US military? LOL. What happened here? (Although I will tak...

The English language is simply A german Alphabet read in french/latin The alphabet's Latin, from Greece, ultimately derived from Semitic abjads. Edit: though I'd guess under the influence of Sumerian writing, ultimately, as given the relative paucity of completely independently developed writing sy...

This one also isn't a stereotype as some of the people literally believe that fetuses are people, so them calling choice murder is correct.

Stereotype = doubleplusungood. Apparently :\

I'll bite: Why can't an infinite universe have a beginning? It can if it came into existence from nothing. This way a universe that is spatially infinite can exist with a finite past. ruveyn Since it has been determined that it is expanding, how can an infinite universe expand? >>>Metric expansion....

I'll bite: Why can't an infinite universe have a beginning? Because it would have to be created instantaneously of infinite size and not expand through time and space as we are witnessing it doing. The universe is not expanding through time and space; space and time are expanding. I seem to have br...

Should humans stop having beliefs that cannot be proven? No. Why do humans believe things when there is not enough evidence to prove that the belief is valid? Humans are irrational, and not just a little; for example experiments have established that some very very basic inferences are consistently...

LOL, I still have the w/wh distinction in my speech, but that's probably because I grew up in a back-woods rural area. Oh, one thing that bugs me is how many Brits don't use the subjunctive mood, apparently us Americans are more archaic in grammar than the Brits. It seems to me that American preser...

None of those, architecture really shines when it actually "fits" in with its surrounding buildings. Fast example, in China, they're asking european architects to build their funky buildings (i don't think i need to post pics now do i?) which although modern, seem really out of place when compared ...

I think it's ridiculous to write as though any given person born within a certain timeframe can take either credit or blame for everything happening in the world while they are a certain age. "Generations" don't do anything except have birthdays within 20 years of each other. A "generation" doesn't...

I'm not defending Brusilov in the least, but seriously don't piss on wikipedia people. :evil: you do know wikipedia can be edited by anyone, right? I could go in and put the KKK is a massive group of black sodomites who engage in public gay orgies. Would it be right? No, but it would be on wikipedia...

Dictionaries are not a source of scholarly definitions. For the purposes of philosophical debate, Orwell is correct. There are finer shades of meaning maintained in philosophical debate precisely because it is useful to observe them.

There is also the matter of Pascal's wager wherein one lives a life of conformity to the demands of religious dogma, not because one is convinced of the existence of God but because one has nothing to lose by behaving in accord with religion. But the all penetrating eye of an omniscient God cannot ...
