They have feds in the UK? Anyway, don't tell your friends. There, problem solved. If something is a problem, you can express this without using the autism label, for example, "I am really sensitive to smells and this gives me a headache," or "Please turn down your music, it is interfe...

I'm a bit troubled and I'd like to see other people's opinions on this. I've heard that some people with autism have narrow minded interests and opinions. Personally I don't like to think of intelligent people as being narrow minded so I'm doing my best to look beyond this idea. What do you mean by...

It's bizarre, but honestly it does predate tiktok. I remember teens being like that way back when I was one, back when we were all on dialup.

Thank you, Isabella.
The screams are a combination of distress (food touched him) and anger (I won't get him a cat because his brother is allergic). The anger saddens me because I'm not trying to be mean to him.

My son is 13, verbal, and very bright. He also screams at the drop of a hat. A piece of clean food, like an artichoke leaf, touches his pants: screaming. His sister puts her shoe up on the backseat of the car: screaming. His cat toy touches the ground: screaming. He can't get his nose to stop produc...

I'm not convinced that friends exist the way they are portrayed in books or screens. I think people have friends by having hobbies in common or because they see each other regularly. For example, I see my neighbor often when we are both out, and then we chat. I like gardening and have a friend who r...

I'm Jewish, but I would be interested in the housekeeping and organization part. I just got some more bins for the baby's toys... And after my garage sale next week I'll have my racks back to put the bins into.
Good luck!

Well, you can always turn over a new leaf. Ask people about how they're doing and try to listen to their problems, if they have them. Give genuine compliments. Be friendly. :)

I was just saying the same thing to my husband. Obviously it's horrible that so many people died, but I loved staying in and not having any work/social obligations for those first couple weeks of lockdown. It was such a relief. You know, relatives often push me to "go on vacation," especia...

It is extremely normal for autistic people to have deep, passionate interests in a particular thing for a while, and then eventually move on to the next thing.
My son's thing is cats.

Wow. That's a really incredible story. I'm glad you're recovering. I think my dyslexic daughter can sympathize with how you felt while staring at that word.
Skyrim sounds like a really neat game, too.

I hope you keep getting better.

First is the low life expectancy of those with general autism (classic and HFA) and "learning disorders", which isn't clear? But if HFA and classic people are both expected to live to an average age of 39, that is shocking. Sorry, but my nonsense detector is ringing wildly. Mayyyyybe peop...

Kids--even the neurotypical ones!--vary so much that generic advice probably won't get you very far. Try just getting the kids together and talking to your neighbors and see how it goes :)
