Thank you, Tantybi! You've been extremely helpful! He does want to 'go away' to college - for Pharmacy tech, but the college he wants to go to is less than an hour away, so he can commute. He's got a behavioral specialist working with him (twice weekly) to help with the social stuff. I will definite...

Thank you for your replies! I will try to clarify where I can. I'm a bit confused by some of what you've posted - I don't know what you mean by a "service agreement." Zach was evaluated by the school last year to see if he qualified for a 504. I was told by the Special Ed. department that he did not...

We hit a small bump in the road with Zach and school and need some help. QUICKLY (he's 16, Asperger's, in all Honors classes, has a Gifted IEP, but nothing else) We changed his meds at the end of the school year last year - from Strattera to Focalin and it seemed to make a HUGE difference (for the b...

They were horrible video clips! We do chase our kids around, saying we are going to 'get them', but it always ends in a tickle fest. Not them crying, afraid. We do play hide and seek, and scare them when they find us, but again, its US, not Freddy or any other monster. And they always ask for us to ...

Thinking we beat the college to the 'opening' ;) on a picnic table at a National Public Park in my best friends front yard, under the stars in the work out room in my dh's (then bo... |

I am finding this thread and all the posts therein very interesting. My Aspie son cannot have his food touching on the plate. He does NOT mix anything together, but he eats pretty much anything. Except when we go out to eat - the he ONLY eats chicken and fries. No matter where we are. He will never ...

My son does this, too. His counselor has said that to admit he's done something wrong is to admit that he is less than perfect and his ego won't allow him to do that. Whether or not I believe that or not.... Ds is now 15 and still does it when he gets into trouble in school. :( BUT there have been m...

I have to agree with a few other posters - if she truly likes you - she will accept you for who you are. Not define you by it.
I hope she sees what a cool wonderful person you are. Accept you hook, line and sinker!
(and if she doesn't - its her loss) |

A lady that lives near me has a pet skunk. Its cool to see - but they aren't as soft as they look. She said it is very sweet. That all said - I am in the process of tryng to get my dog clean today. He chased a skunk under a car this morning and got sprayed - full on in the face. Poor guy. Still tryi...

My 15 yr old Aspie is on Strattera and Lexapro. More for his ADD and anxiety than the Aspergers We've played around with the doses. We started with Adderall XR and that was a nightmare. Literally. He was on Paxil for awhile, too, but with all the controversy with that, we switched to the Lexapro. I ...

A house that looks like a barn? SURE!! In a heartbeat!! No animals, though, thanks! I'd love to have a place big enough for the kids to play on rainy/cold days without getting yelled at - for fear of getting hurt or breaking things - in a 'barn house' we could do that! Set up a swing area, a ring to...

I am new to the board. My son (15) has Aspergers - wasn't diagnosed until 13. Up until then, he was just 'a behavior' problem in school. He has a Gifted IEP and we are fighting tooth and nail to get a 'regular' IEP in place for him I LITERALLY sat here and cried as I read this thread. You have hit a...
