My issue is that a Ukrainian accent and a Russian accent are too similar for most people in the U.S. to distinguish between, and so a thick accent like this could be confusing.

How do you know they weren't disabled by their neurotype? ..<snip>.. Many people of those generations (including my own) developed considerable mental health struggles which they dealt with in private lest they be shut up in psychiatric care. Totally agree with this. Just because others exist who m...

I've noticed that if CBS is broadcasting a sporting event earlier in the afternoon, that messes with everything after 60 Minutes until the news hour (11/10pm). This means shows on Sunday evenings (like the Billy Joel concert) are often started in the middle or otherwise truncated in order to fit in ...

Welcome to WP! One thing to note about the phrase "high functioning" is that it's not 100% accurate, which is why it's not used much anymore. If that is the term they use for you in a recent diagnosis, be aware this suggests they're not fully up on the latest research and understanding. Th...

I took photos of the 95% eclipse through the holes of a colander, but can't figure out where to post it so that I can link to it here. The sky was a dark French blue-gray, which shows in the photo. Wish I could have been further south to see the totality, but it was still very special.

Welcome back!

I'll be in Sweden for 2 weeks in June, but on a tight schedule with a group, so I'll just wave in your general direction while I'm there! If there's anything you think I shouldn't miss while I'm there, please let me know.

When I was finally diagnosed, I said to the tester: now I have a better understanding of why my adoptive parents were so abusive to me. They'd been told they'd be getting a 'blank slate' who would love them unconditionally and be grateful to be adopted, and instead they got an autistic kid who didn'...

Dennis Prager is known to be an Authoritarian and Christian Nationalist. I wouldn't trust any quiz he promotes.
