What I saw: The autism segments are a part of CNN's "American Morning" show this week. I saw all the segments which have aired so far on CNN's website (go to cnn.com and click the "health" section), and thought the one with the family with four children was the best one out of the series so far. I m...

I'm fascinated by maps. I've been able to draw a map of the US from memory, with most major cities, since 4th grade. I can now do it with more cities and the entire Amtrak system on it, and can now do it in about 6 and a half minutes. In fact, I have decorated my dorm/college apartment room walls wi...

The issue of being insulted while walking, riding a bike, or standing at bust tops, etc seems to be related to an anomoly of American culture that sets those that are using non-automobile transportation lower in the social hiarchey of class. Unfortunatley, those that do not use an automobile to get...

I'll take this to the News Forum if moderators wish, but since it is on topic posted it here on the main discussion board.

I always appreciated my soda, in HS I was so busy with clubs and homework after school I needed the caffeine just to survive and not pass out in class! I feel sorry for the people in HS now who are like me, and how they will no longer have the convenience of caffeine during lunch unless they bring i...

Happened to me like a couple times. Once, on a rainy day when I had a new raincoat on, the car slowed down enough to actually hear the message despite the doppler effect...the message was "NICE PONCHO, H*M*!" Another time I couldn't hear what they said but had a chicken wing thrown at me. Most of th...

I interviewed two weeks ago for my dream job, and sent thank-you emails to the two interviewers who provided me business cards (and thus contact information to send a thank you to) immediately after returning from the interview. One of them sent me a reply thanking ME. I'm still waiting to hear back...

 I have just had a really horrible thought. Could internet dating spread it? Internet dating tends to favor minds that are alike. An introvert probably will not get on all that well with and extrovert, consequently no date. The internet has also made it much attractive for aspies to date each...

My childhood was a LOT like what you're describing your son as having. I seemed to have a couple friends in preschool and kindergarten. We moved between K and 1st Grade, and I was friends pretty much with the neighborhood kids. Those friendships died in mid elementary school, by late elementary scho...

"A rise in autism cases is not evidence of a feared epidemic but reflects that schools are diagnosing autism more frequently." -- What kind of statement is that? If schools are diagnosing autism more frequently, then there is clearly evidence of a growing number of cases. The above statement is kin...

I still dont know if I have AS 100% for sure or not...and given the discrimination people with diagnoses face in the workplace, I'd like to keep it that way for now. I had a REALLY aspieish childhood and many of the traits nowadays, but also have had a lot of things in recent years in college which ...

I find it interesting they want to screen all infants for "Autism" (I wonder if they just mean Kanner's or anything on the Spectrum) by their second birthday, since ASDs seem to first surface in many between ages 2 and 3. I also find it interesting they want to spend only $4 Million on it. That does...

I was going to make a really long reply, but...I couldn't post it without writing an epistle that would go on for years. Basically, it's taken me until now, college, to realize just how much my parents love me and have loved me throughout the years. Our relationship now is MUCH better than I could'v...

Some people have theroized that ADHD is an even milder form an ASD than aspergers is since the definitions of both share a lot of similarities. I've always found it hard to believe that. Some of the people I know who have ADHD are some of the best people I know, NT, ADHD or otherwise, when it comes...
