My sport and fitness maintainer is a bicycle. It is usually face time that keeps me awake, mulling over what was said or not said. If I have not had my exercise, it is worse. Sometimes, a good sprint is a great way to burn off the adrenalin from anger. Bonus: An Aikido Story A turning point in my li...

ABBA made a substantial contribution to Sweden's tax collectors, but I don't know about this new group. I had a math teacher who was frustrated that I had lower than expected marks, and wanted to talk about cars. Many years later, I taught myself how to use math to make better cars. He could have gi...

There are strict standards for the percentage of insect parts allowed in processed food. It is not zero, and I've never heard of any enforcement. My NT father seemed to think that flies all went wading in feces and then rubbed their legs over his food to clean them, but the odds of that seem low whe...

"Many people, especially ignorant people, want to punish you for speaking the truth, for being correct, for being you. Never apologize for being correct, or for being years ahead of your time. If you're right and you know it, speak your mind. Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is stil...

I actually like that kind of thinking mentioned in the quote. For me it is mostly a non-academic thing. It is more on a personal level. I am not an academic.

So do I, but following the logic has cost me most of my friends, and that possibility is enough to scare others off.

ASD makes us prone to science, but it is by no means compelling. Everyone has to use a simplified model of what the world is like just to have room to think, and the Scientific Method is dangerous to parts of the model. It also breaks the flow of analog thinking. When Robert Persig was trying to und...

It sounds as if you are still imitating the way people first talked to you. Maybe try doing impressions of celebrated orators to re-learn speech. Anton Petrov's show would be far better with a "speaking to adults" voice and vocabulary.

People might like it better if you just asked how to re-arrange the music to replace a guitar with a piano. Formal scientific language can leave some people stunned by the culture shift. As for the effect on creativity, formulating the question can be a big help or a disaster. Don't ask how to impro...

I have always worn dust masks when they might save me a coughing fit later. They need modification to avoid fogging my glasses in frigid weather. However, my main issue is that when I put on a mask, I have to take off a sweater. I've had one in my survival kit for a long time because it is so much m...

I tell a lot of jokes, but if you ask me to think of one, I can't do it directly. They are all linked to other memories as "similar stories." I get highly original thoughts, and they can arise from reading, or just mulling over past events until they make more sense. I take lots of notes t...

Nobody is all right or all wrong. I collect the outrageous opinions of various experts, and they all seem to have at least one that is right off the wall. One astronomer of quite shattering eminence thought that our nostrils point down to shield them from space dust, even though he must have seen a ...

This adult's pediatrician was fine. My currently available doctors, nurses, and administrators spent three weeks wrecking my general health and setting my PTSD recovery back six months and without ever setting my broken thumb. Cave men did a lot better than that.

Why argue about the way people get involved instead of the primary evidence? Being afraid of dogs does make dogs unfriendly to you, but the climate has no feelings, and will follow the laws of physics no matter how we react. Funny you mentioned fear of dogs as an example: I was bitten by a dog when...

If the biggest fool in the world says the sun is out, it does not go dark. However, Greta is quoting just about every scientist whose salary is not dependent on climate change denial. I don't see any evidence that contradicts them, just desperate attempts to not feel guilty.

No I don't believe anything greta says- she is out of touch with reality. The first time I went to Banff, there was a fine old stone hotel overlooking the Columbia Glacier ending at turquoise Lake Louise. The hotel is still there, overlooking a field of rubble and a distant sliver of ice. This has ...
