I love spending time on WP, and one of my favorite things about it is having all of you people to relate to; but there is something that happens when I go a good stretch without checking the forums or reading about/talking about anything autism related. I feel like the more time I spend on here (or ...

AS isn't a nation, so there can be no 'AS nationalists'.

It sounds and looks like news hype to me, just like everything else that 'casues autism'. The evidence is weak at best.

I have autism (HFA), ADHD, and OCD. I do tics, stims, and compulsive movements. The difference between them is this: the stims are usually involuntary or not noticed until I stop doing them (at least physical movement stims). Often when I stim, my mind is off elsewhere - I'll be thinking about somet...

In elementary school I was with mainstream classes most of the time, and in certain special-ed pull-outs on certain days. Sometimes I was alone at these pullouts - just me and some teacher or assistant or whoever they were. Other times it was with a group of other kids - usually a pretty small group...

My son just doesn't get swimming - he hates putting his face in the water and has trouble the free style stroke and pretty much hasn't learnt anything in the past 6 months (it doesn't help that he has no interest in learning how to swim). Anyway, we are considering putting him in a special needs cl...

I'm neutral about the puzzle pieces - although I do hate their colors.

It takes me a very long time to adjust to sudden or unexpected changes like that. Ultimately, for me all things like that always hurt at least a bit when I think about them; but over time, after they happen, the times I think about it all naturally decrease in frequency and level of pain felt.

I don't like being male at all - I've had gender dysphoria for as long as I can remember. I also dislike most gender roles, stereotypes, expectations, etc. for both males and females.

I usually can't tell unless they're being obvious about it. I usually take them not saying anything in response or asking any questions in response as a sign that they're bored with what I'm saying.

I pick clothes first off of their comfort, then off of their appearance and all that other stuff. Their comfort is the most important thing, though.

I don't like clothes that are too rough, too stiff, too tight, too loose, etc. They also can't make noise in a bad way when I move.

I have high functioning autism, ADHD and OCD - I tend to spend a lot of time focused on one thing, particularly special interest related things. I spend a large portion of my time on special interest stuff - when I was into World of Warcraft, I spent a -minimum- of 8 hours per day playing it, easily...

I have autism. HFA. I wish there was an option for autism on that part of our profiles.
