I feel the same - I have pretty much broken off friendships with anyone who just wants to sit around and talk when they hang out. Now my friends are other musicians, so if we're sitting around talking, at least I can ramble on and on about special interest stuff and they want to hear it.

I have an extremely high tolerance for spicy food. I enjoy eating it a lot, actually. I've never been to a restaurant that made things spicy enough without me asking them to do so. One restaurant I frequent has made my regular order into a special item on their menu - the "911".

Same thing here.

the feeling from opening cans - meaning popping the tab on cans of soda - this is tactile and auditory, both from the sound of the cracking and the feel of it through the tab and can the feeling of being wet or getting wet - once I'm completely wet it's alright - I dread getting into the shower. Th...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Old things - associating with past memories

I like old things because I like to think of how they were sitting around, without me knowing of their existence or that I'd come to own them, during moments while I was alive in the past. For example, my Les Paul (type of guitar) was made in 1990 - so it's about a year younger than me. So for my en...

I also shower twice a day, most days. I -loathe- the feeling of being unclean. I wash my hands extremely often - I cannot play any musical instrument without washing my hands first. It's all about the texture I have with freshly washed hands. There is logic behind it, for bass and guitar - washing y...

Wow, you actually put an umlaut on the u in über. You just got about 50,000 respect points from me. On top of what you already have for pointing out some things about absolute pitch to me, and your posts in general.

I also find it difficult to sit in one position for an extended length of time. This happens with me. I can't stand sitting in one position, or staying in one position, for long. I move around a lot when I'm in my bed trying to sleep, as well. I find a lot of seats uncomfortable, too, like -all- of...

I'm not sure which would be good to remove if you only can fit 4. 4. I may sway or make repetitive motions. This is a stress response, not a sign of substance abuse. I think this one would be a good one to change - something like this would probably fit better, and explain that bit while also explai...

... I see there is no point trying to reason with you - you've equated your relatives and the drugs they were using with all drug users and all drugs, which is as logical as saying that there's no difference between a table and a whale, and assuming that a table is a mammal, can swim, mate with oth...

hey everyone, I was really hoping to get some feedback on this post and see that we didn't get any replies yesterday. Guess I'll ask once more: Do you think that this type of project would benefit the autistic community - helping younger children learn visually by cooking with their parents and old...

And we reinvent the wheel because we see room for improvement. I don't see that autism alert card doing much good in a tense police encounter, unless by some miracle you get an officer who knows about autism. It would probably make a decent info card for the general public though. Edit: I'm wonderi...

I've never really -tried- to get friends. Any friendships I've had (I've not had many) have formed fairly spontaneously - me and them just happened to start talking to each other more and all that, and eventually we were friends - there was no one point where we went "now we are friends" or anything...

That reminds me - I also have a fear of heights. Nothing too overboard about it, though.
