We haven't talked to a doctor yet. We were hoping to find a solution in other ways before talking to a doctor because there are not many doctors in this area that are familiar with all aspects of autism or autism at all. Most are not familiar with alternate solutions to some of the problems autistic...

This is a good idea, only he won't eat spaghetti noodles. And the post about giving him certain cuts of string, I don't know. That seems to me as if we are telling him to stop, yet we're giving him string. He might get confused. The only thing is, he eats all day long, in his sleep sometimes. He lik...

My brother is 15 years old and moderate-severe autistic. He can sometimes form sentences but has a hard time understanding ours. He has developed a problem similar to pica but we don't know for sure if it is pica. He is eating string and elastic from his clothes and furniture. He eats so much string...

I don't know whats best for him. But its gotta be more than what he's doing. I'm sorry to say but I feel that some of this is just common sense. I haven't had a great life either, my separate life. I am 21 yrs old and just now getting to a point where I can be on my own. I've been in college, had tw...

I don't really understand her reasons for doing it this way. She never actually explains it. Probably cuz I dont think she can explain it where it sounds really reasonable. She knows what she should be doing, because even she gets aggravated from time to time that he can't handle things. I don't wan...

There are other family members. But from what i understand, they don't think she will ever face it, until something happens to make her face it. Actually everyone I talk to agree with me, but they say that she's got to realize it and I've just got to shut my mouth. But my brother's wellbeing is at s...

He does want to be sociable. thats one of the things that saddens me. He has a video camera and will record kids playing outside, then watch it again later and laugh. You can see he wants to join in, but he can't cuz he doesn't know how to be around ppl. He has never had interaction with others besi...

My 12 yr old brother Tyler was diagnosed when he was 5 with moderate-severe autism. I was 13 at the time he was diagnosed. My problem is that he is not in school, he has never had any help (therapy), and his mother won't try to change it. I live with my mother and I am tired of my brother's life was...
