Has anyone else realized that one of their parents probably has aspergers as well? I recently have been thinking about my father and some things that make him different. My whole life, he never watched anything but martial arts things and I can't remember him talking about anything else that he like...

She has paranoid schizophrenia and recently my father and grandmother had her hospitalized again and she cal...

I just got a new job as a web and graphic designer and work in an office with many people. The work itself is very comforting. I spend a lot of time thinking and keeping generally to myself. The work generally has strict deadlines and I make lists in order to organize the work I want to get done for...

Normally I wouldn't talk about it either, but these were people I'd known for years and worked with for years and hung out with for years. I generally don't have a reason to talk about it, but we'd been talking about autism and I thought it would be safe to disclose.

And yes, you shouldn't jump to conclusions, in fact, you shouldn't even wonder if they are indeed laughing at you. Some stranger's opinion is worth sh**. I understand that you care about what the people who are dear to you think, but strangers at the cafeteria? They're not worth your time or troubl...

Thank you for the wikipedia entry. It was interesting. Had my friend explained this differently instead of simply saying people with autism are wired like animals (not that they experience similar feelings to those of the animals), I would not have been annoyed. As far as the boys go, in my experien...

I work in a college cafeteria. Today, I mentioned my Aspergers to a new friend at work when we were talking about autism. As I was talking, some guys at the table next to ours who I think may have overheard me started staring and laughing and whispering. I think they may have been talking about me, ...

I've been noticing lately that I'm having trouble controlling facial expressions and responses during conversation. It was really terrible when I first came to college, but now I have a few conscious things I do in order to help put others at ease during conversations that seem to work most of the t...

I've been really stressed out lately about how my conversations have been going. I've been having people say things(at work and school) that I think are mean, but other people treat them as if it is a joke and not something I should be upset about. I usually don't say anything, because I don't know ...

I really stress myself out analyzing my communications with other people after they've happened. I always find myself wondering what people meant or if I should be upset by what they've said or if I've said something strange. I think about things that I or other people have said for days, weeks, and...

I don't have any job information, but it's interesting to meet another person with Asperger's who is a technical writer. I'm finishing my degree in Scientific and Technical Communication and have been agonizing lately about whether or not I would be able to do well in the field. I was told by counse...
