I was fascinated by it when younger. I did some stupid things when younger and one particular instance scared me so I learnt a healthy respect about actually setting things on fire. I never set anything on fire that belonged to anyone else, never harmed any living thing, and there was no desire to b...

The Birds. I love Hitchcock, but I have no desire to watch this particular film. Just seems stupid. I saw this film when I was probably too young. I went to school the next day and there were so many birds sitting on the telephone lines etc. and seemingly watching me. I was quite nervous! https://m...

The Twilight series. Sat down to watch the first one with my kids (didn't read the books). Turned it off when the vamps sparkled and irrationally avoid films with the 2 main leads. Like many, I don't understand how and why The Twilight Series became so popular. We all know that Twilight fanfic ende...

I don't generally react to things that strongly. This is learned behaviour. I do find it hard to let things go though when I don't understand them. I will go over them again and again in a useless loop trying to work it out, but I don't have the information that would answer the question. e.g. bein...

After plenty of thinking on this subject. I have no problem with this at all. I would have had a problem if it had actually been Superman that came out bisexual though. That role is clearly suppose to be a masculine role. To change that would literally change the very nature of the character itself...

Aah, silly me. Another way of putting it might be - if (generic "you") would only put as much effort into being reasonable as you put into being selfish prick, you'd find points made worth consideration. I see. Yes, in context of ordinary speech it makes sense, but still it doesn't apply ...

It does seem a little ironic that BR seems upset and the methodology at the beginning of the Topic isn't being used, and that a conversation about caring turns into a fight. As someone who doesn't get a lot of time to spend on here and doesn't have history with anyone I'm disappointed by how the con...

Framework for Care of Upset Person : 2) Validate emotion. Even if the other person is being 'unreasonable' to you, or their emotional state doesn't make sense after you've asked several questions, that does not mean it is invalid to them. Their emotions need to be recognized as valid and having goo...

I see two of you in this thread diagnosed with ASD level 2. How come you've gone under the radar for such a long time? I mean, both my boys are ASD level 2 and there is absolutely NO WAY they'd be able to mask or anything to keep those people who would need to deal with them from not understanding ...

I tell him that I understand a great many things as *concepts*, but I dont understand them *internally*. Nothing really "translates" from my head to the outside very well, but the closest I get is life is surrounded by cellophane in places. I can see it. Its right there. I can KIND OF tou...

I've been around here for a couple months, but just got dx'd today, like the title said. I knew it was coming, but still feels a little surreal. I'm 56 years old... ASD level 2. I'm relieved and angry. Hopeful and resentful. Kind of an emotional cornucopia right now. I don't know what the point of ...

I'm attending an online meeting. The presenter keeps making noises with his mouth, like tutting, keeps saying actually, and he needs a de-esser (whistley noises every time he says a word with an S in it).

It is driving me insane!

I love listening to my dogs breathe. Overhead projectors make me want to fall asleep (great in training courses <-- sarcasm). The ocean, but maybe that's not odd. I also like the rumble of thunder and lightning, but that doesn't relax me, it energizes me. I feel like going out in it. I love sailing ...
